Tried to go in and purchase a Phantom 4 at my local apple store. Wanted to ask what they do if product is DOA, or defective. like exchange, etc. Except no one would talk to me. Usually apple has good customer service, but all the employees seemed to ignore me. they were too busy talking to each other in training sessions with new employees it looked like. I tried to scan the Phantom 4 on the shelf my self with their self checkout app, but it said I had to see a specialist. Tried to scan a battery to buy to get their attention, but that said it was not on file. I stood by the display looking awhile longer at the box. I was surprised how light it was (new to drones) Nice box, seemed like a good handle. But that's as far as I got. After there for another 10 minutes looking at employees with a drone, I had to put it back and walk out. I think my apple store in Indiana doesn't want to sell DJI stuff, and only interested in the phones. Maybe they get commision/prizes for selling the most apple stuff, but DJI items are not part of the equation and no one want to help you out. If I would have picked up a phone, ipad, or played with a watch, I would have had a swarm of apple salespeople on me. Guess I'll have to wait till Best Buy has them or order one from B&H.

Sadly they are valued on the sales of apple products so you have to stare at the newest iPad to get their attention.

The one near Atlanta was perfect to me. They were all excited I was getting it. Thinking it was maybe just that store cause every Apple Store I've ever been in has been great to me. Btw, you said it felt light? If it was the display you were feeling, it's built with nothing in it so that's why it's so light.

I can't speak for Indiana but the stores reflect the regional cultures from my experiences in So Cal, SF Bay Area, NYC and NJ.  So Cal bend over backwards to help, great customer service, etc.  The culture in LA is very service-orient, customer-always-right, etc.  NYC it's a bunch of urban hipsters who look bored, feel above their temporary situation as a retail employee and totally disinterested in whether you buy anything or not.  they certainly wouldn't bother helping you make an exchange.  NJ are put off the help you if you force the issue and they'll probably give you grief even if you have Applecare.  Bay Area even the sales people are probably better than the "geniuses" in Jersey.

My experience in the majority of Apple Stores I've visited is nothing other than stellar. There have been times that the shop has been very busy that I've had to wait a few minutes but that speaks volumes to me, If their service was bad nobody would bother going there and Apple would soon find itself in trouble. On the opposite side of the coin, I have noticed when I walk past the Microsoft stores that have set themselves up as almost to mirror the Apple stores layout that there is rarely any customers in the shop and a lot of employees standing around trying to look busy. A quite store void of customer activity speaks volumes to me.

I bought my P4 at an Apple store in Southern California. My purchase experience was great. When I walked in, they didn't have it on display yet...it was the first day...but I told the rep what I was looking for, she went in the back and returned a couple minutes later with the box. As they didn't have a display model, I asked about return policy and was told 14 days.

Sorry to hear that your experience was so bad, but no complaints here.

As an apple employee personally that saddens me to read that. We make every effort to help our customers whether it's a purchasing mission or even just looking to get information. We don't make any commission or extra incentive on any thing. The only thing i can think of is that they weren't educated on the Phantom and probably felt uncomfortable talking about something they know very little about. I highly recommend you do give the store feedback.
