Is it possible to use car charger from Phantom 3 for Phantom 4?

The chargers are not compatible.

What I do is use a power inverter in the car that way I can plug anything in (well most anything, not a microwave).

Why are they not compatible? Both batteries are the same voltage, only the P4 is slightly higher capacity.

From what I have read online and one of the videos I have seen the connectors are not compatible. So it won't plug in.

Correct the P3 and P4 connector are very different.   So even if they are the same spec the connector would stop it.

Correct as others have said. The connector is totally different and not like any previous Phantom.

OK then, so it will take a week or so before the Chinese Car Charger people source a new connector.

I wondered about using an inverter since the waves are not sine. I decided to try it anyway but once the battery indicated it was fully charged (lights out) I tried it and it was only actually at around 60%. Seems they do play together, just not very well.

I can't see how the difference between pure or square wave would make a difference to how its charged?

Are you sure perhaps the cable didn't become unplugged or your car auto switched off power to the accessories?

No, I'm not sure. I only tried it once and didn't want to give it another shot until I heard from some folks that are smarter than me

A car charger is a little different in that it only involves regulating an already constant flow of electrons. I only ask because I have had issues in the past running my laptop from inverters and just want to make sure here before attempting to ruin a $160 DJI battery.

I got myself a 600w inverter for the same use but I didn't try it out yet. I can't see how it would not work tho. Isn't the supply for the phantom charger only a switchmode PSU that takes a very wide range of input voltage?

One additional thing when looking at an inverter.  There are several types - square wave, modified sine wave, and pure sine wave.     Pure sine wave is what you have at home, pure sine wave inverters are also more expensive than the other types.

I do know that certain electronic devices will not work at all with square wave and others are affected by modified sine wave.   I have zero idea if / how the Phantom chargers would be affected by square or modified sine wave.  Just to be safe, I stick with pure sine wave inverters
