Trying to take the top off the Phantom 2 to install fpv and I can't unscrew the screws on the very end. I have a small enough philips screw driver, but the screws seem like they're on there too tight and the screw driver just tears up the screw.

How can I loosen the screws on the Phantom?

Seriously,  I had 2 of the same screws that were so tight I stripped the head and nothing would work to get it out.  I had to drill off the head, and once I had the shell apart, the stub of the screw stuck out of the plastic enough , 1/4 inch, and I was able to get them out with pliers.  Found on Ebay a complete screw hit and ordered one to replace damaged screws.

Use the correct size screwdriver only. Once in a while you can get lucky running the tip of the screwdriver across sandpaper just the very tip it may help the screwdriver grab but 7f it is stripped you'll have to drill it out but be very careful. Buy yourself a good screwdriver set they are cheap.

These are what I bought on Ebay.

Titanium Nitride TiNi Hex Driver Wrench 4 PC/Piece Set 1.5mm/2mm/2.5mm/3.0mm

I also bought a set of jeweler screw drivers.  They can be found on Ebay or Amazon.

I have been doing a little research and while not 100% sure, those little screws at the very end of the arm may not be Phillips screws but actually JIS (Japanese Industrial Standard) screws. You can remove a Phillips screw with a JIS screw driver but a Phillips screwdriver will strip a JIS screw if it is tight.

Another usefull tip. When taking off the body shell, ALLWAYS take off the four screws at the very end of each arm off first. If you first unscrew the 3 screws on each of the arms, you'll have great tention on the ends. The last screws will be very hard to take off then.

I had the same problem with one screw.  It appears that they use some type of lock tight.  I ended up drilling a hole in the end of the screw and then using a hex to get it out.   Those are cheap screws.

Just drill the head off it do not drill into the plastic.  Once you get the top off, there will be a little bit of a stub of the screw sticking up so you can grab with pliers.  You can get a new screw set on Ebay,  They use a size 00 Phillips screw driver.

You can probably find them on Amazon also.

pdrr.nc, before you start drilling, make sure you cover the motor with a plastic bag and seal it with tape. The small bits from the screw will stick to the magnets inside of the motor.
