It is not a case of when, DJI do not do anything to specifically support any given phone or tablet. All they do is test various devices and then list them if they find they work OK. If you have an S7, then try it.
As for the update, did you follow the tutorial on how to perform the update? It is on this forum. And in order for anyone to help you, you need to say what model Phantom you have, because the update procedure is different for different models.
