This is interesting. Fortunately the specs on the 15" rMBP are a lot better than the basic Macbook, so that gives me hope.
With this in mind, should I do any transcoding and rendering on other machines? I have a server that's on all the time and could easily do this. The problem I see with that is that it's running Server 2012 R2, so there would have to be a Windows program that would be compatible with Apple's software...or I'd have to Hyper V an OS X install. I do currently have CentOS running on a Hyper V that's sacrifice-able to any other OS that I would need to install. |
