Any issue you might have will be the LiPo batteries, rather than the quad. Check with the airline as many have both a maximum number allowed and also a discharge threshold which all batteries have to be below.

Phantom Batteries are fine but must be carry-on.
I fly with mine a lot and have never had any issues anywhere in Oz.

I keep this brochure with me: "CASA safe to fly brochure"

Have only had to refer to it once at a regional airport

How many bats do you carry on?  Looks like you may only take 2.

Mike sent you a friend request... Hope we can interact somehow on phantoms. I am an Aussie living in Philippines. Going to buy a Phantom 4 soon.

I have to ask because when I read this I was confused.

what would make it or any quad a "problem " to hand carry any where?

What would be the issue that has you concerned?

Hec , in the US you can hand (in tsa appoved case) carry your firearm to the luggage check in  without issue..

good luck and have fun flying!

I guess I and others assumed as carry-on luggage..As others noted the LiPo(s) are a potrential problem, but I often wondered about the blades, I used to transport them in check-in but no longer bother with that either. (although I'd have my doubts about carbon props.

I've taken my phantom through Sydney Airport quite a few times.  It raises a few eyebrows and they may want to have a physical look, but it should be okay as carry on.

The two limit is for the medium power (101-160Wh) The Phantoms are only 68Wh I regularly fly with 4 as carry on.

Same with me - I've taken P2, P3P and P4 through Mascot airport, with up to 5 batteries at a time, never an issue.  Always carry on.
