I had my maiden flight of my P3S with firmware 1.4.60 and several flights were great. I tested a couple of IOC operations as well. Then the next day, the RC had the message to upgrade to firmware (FW) 1.5.70.  I have not flown since. I ungraded  using my iPad 2 mini running DJI Go 2.6? (Do not really know as it is one version 2.6). Upgrade went well with no errors.  I recalibrated the IMU and then tried to calibrate the compass at the same location as for my successful fights. Compass calibration failed there and numerous other locations. Decided to downgrade FW to version 1.4.60 but only 1.3.50 was available. I did downgrade to 1.3.50 and then went back to 1.5.70 with no luck.  I did not try to fly with 1.3.50 - should I?  What else can I do since flying with a compass error is not an option?

Your firmware adventures should not have had any effect on the compass.
Check the sensors info in the app and make sure you have some sort of number showing for the compass.
If it shows zero you have a real problem and the compass is busted or disconnected.
If there's a number there, you should be able to calibrate it in a good area away from magnetic interference (cars, structural steel, reinforced concrete etc)

Compass settings has some numbers.  I have logged only 25 min of perfect FW 1.4.60.  The only change was an upgrade to 1.5.70.  I have not attempted a flight because of the compass error. No crashes, drops or bumps have occurred.

Is anyone flying with FW 1.3.50? Any problems? Are you being asked to upgrade to FW 1.4.60 or 1.5.70?

I could reply ... but I'd just say exactly the same thing as I already did.

My friend has 2 phantom 3 standards which are upgraded to the latest version. They work normally. If the compass calibration fails in several different situations, please contact our NA office as below :

labroides was correct and your response is in there as well.

I forgot that concrete may have rebar which may mess with the calibration.  I tested the compass calibration on a driveway and it failed.  I moved to an open field and the compass calibration was normal.

I wonder how many fly aways this may have caused, if any?
