Hello today I decided to update the firmware to the latest version. As I updated it I connected my controller and it said rc signal lost... Then I waited for my controller to fully charge and once I tried connecting it, it completely didn't connect at all.. And after that I noticed my controller was completely unresponsive.. The gimbal wheel doesn't work nor does the device connect.. The controller is operating like the green light is on but the controller is unresponsive please help!

I don't believe you should turn on your RC while the Phantom is updating. This might have caused an issue. There's a good chance that you have simply 'unbinded' them. There are instructions on how to bind your RC to your Phantom in the instruction manual. Always update the RC with the Phantom off, and vice versa unless they specifically instruct you to do so.
Anyone please correct me if I am mistaken.

Edit*  You should check your update file on your SD card to be sure the FW upgrade was successful first. There will be a logfile in the root directory that will indicate if it was successful or not. If it was not successful, try to upgrade it again.

Good luck!    Barney

Hi,

Having the same (similar) issue I think.  Did  an update to App/RC/Phantom 3 on Tuesday, went to take it for a training flight today and at first, the DJI Go App wouldnt connect, so I used my iPhone (correct version of the App) and now the RC is saying RC Signal Lost.  I've tried a resink. that didnt work.  I've tried updating the firmware on the Phantom again but that didnt work and now I am getting an earpiercing D D D D whenever I turn the Phantom on.  No other lights and NO connection.  Help?

Ok so it seems as if when I was updating the phantom my sd card was full... As I noticed. So I'm checking for an update log and I don't have it on my sd.. Would the update or soemthing be affected because of the sd card being full.

Okay, so, last night I formatted the SD Card and only put the P3X_FW_V01.08.0080.bin file on it.  I put the SD card into the phantom and left it to run through its update process again.  Note: the entire time it was making an EXTREMELY LOUD sound D.. D.. D.. (over the top of the normal update B..BB..B..BB from the camera gimble), which then got louder and faster and increased in the number of tones until it sounded like it was echoing itself DD..DD..DD..DD..DD.
After approximately 10 minutes, the noise stopped, the lights came on and started flashing green.
I doubled checked the iPad was up to date with the latest DJI Go App (we have two), I doubled checked the RC was updated by connecting it to my iPhone so it could do an update if required.  All OK on those.
This morning, I turned on the drone, turned on the RC..... and......
Everything works!!!

Cheers

I have spent Hours on the phone and chat with DJI. I sent the Logs, he said the update went through fine. I have the latest version of the App. When I turn on the controller, I have a green light, but it still says "Disconnected" I have tried 3 different cables. It hasnt been asking me to "Trust this Computer" which probably makes no difference. I hate this drone. It shouldnt take 15 hours a month of updating to keep it flying. What can I sell this for?

Peter, I take it you are using an IOS device since you say it hasn't been asking to "Trust this device.
What you can do and it should bring back your connection from the app to the RC is to restore your device. I have had success with many people already.
I had the same issue on Android when I updated to Marshmallow.
So I'll give instructions for both. For IOS, make sure to back up your photos and data because you are going to restore it and wipe out everything. You can first try to erase location & privacy, then erase all content and settings, then reset all settings. If none of those do not work, then restore the device through iTunes and that should get you up and running.

For Android, you have to connect the RC to your device then swipe down and change from USB charging to Software Installation.

Ken I appreciate you getting back to me, and will try to restore one of my iPhones. If this doesn't work -what should I do? It takes great images when it flies, but your software has more Bugs than the Amazon River Basin. I can't spend 10-15 hours month trying to keep it flying. You shouldn't release more than one software update a year. Is this phantom 4 this complex and un user friendly?

I'm sorry about the issue you are experiencing, restoring the iPad/iPhone should get it to connect.
And there has to be firmware updates as new features and fixes are released.
The P4 is an complex machine BUT it is very user friendly.
