Hard to say, there's no map visible so nothing to get a scale of the circle.  Could it be showing the accuracy of the GPS, since you have only 8 satellites showing?

What is what? Can you please explain your issue? I see a screen capture with no indication of what it is you are not liking. There's nothing obviously wrong in that image.

To fix a problem for you, you need to form a problem statement.

Tap on the camera image and see what happens, you are in map mode at the moment , and looks like no wifi connection as no map data has downloaded. After you have tapped on the camera image you will now see the map shown as pip.

Wouldn't the circle represent the area as bounded by your maximum flight distance? Check those settings

Hello, Have you an Internet connection ? Maybe your tablet has not this map in memory...
I have never seen this big ring (like a smartphone with no gps connection).

It is your Homepoint.

It is your home point and flying radis.

The Green ring represents the edge of the limit set in your controller/Go as the maximum flight distance from the home point. It is configurable and removable in MC settings (Go App - see pic below)

The inside of the ring (Shaded Green) is the area that you can fly. - If you try to fly outside the ring, your Phantom will stop (And Hover) at the inside of the ring edge, and you will get a message that says "Maximum Flight Distance Reached" - Your Phantom under normal conditions will not be able to fly outside the green shaded area. i.e not allowed to cross the ring from the inside to the outside.

Now that I have calmly said the above and explained it (and hopefully helped)... Im well within my rights to say.... "GO READ THE F????? P3 MANUAL - Pg 40 Under Flight!" (V1.6)

App settings may revert to default values with firmware updates.
Just go back and reset them.

And next time try making the post heading more descriptive and explaining what it is that you need help with.

I know there are references to the maximum flight distance settings in the manual, but I don't see anything about what's shown in the Go app.  Also, I don't remember ever seeing a green circle at the distance limit whenever I've hit it, although in fairness, I rarely hit it.  Is it device dependent?

You may have to zoom-in in the map view to view the limit ring (when you have a limit enabled).

For one, his app is outdated.

Unlikely, as I have mine set to 500 metres.  I have the zoom setting to cover probably around 2000 metres total.  I do have the satellite view visible normally though, rather than the map, but I'm not sure that would make a difference.

I set my Maximum Flight Limit (MFL) to 500 (max settable value) and then viewed the map in all three modes: Street, Hybrid, Satellite. The green perimeter appears in the map view for this limit as well. What do you see when you adjust map zoom to be approximately same as your MFL?

Using: DJI GO v2.8.0, P3 4K v1.5.40, Android 5.0.2 Samsung non-yet-approved-model tablet.

Is the green ring not representative of the meaningfull field of view of the camera on a 360 sweep ?

The Green ring appears once you switch on thr distance limit then set a limit I.e. 250m. The default/max setting is 500m.
Obviously switching it off allowed one to fly their quad past 500m to wherever they wish dependent on battery or other factors I.e preset geofences etc.  

Nigel. Yesterday I tried it on GO App V2.4.3 on iOS/mini4 and it worked as expected, with thr ring correctly turning on and off and also size/circumference changing according to the distance set. I did notice that when I set my distance beyond the map zoom, it looked like there was no circle/ring as I was then looking at the entire green shaded circle on the map without the outer edge of the circle/ring in view. Zooming out of the map (pinching out) beyond the peremeter of the circle and I was able to see the ring again. If I zoomed out way too much then the ring became too small to see on the map.

To be honest, I can't remember.  I haven't flown for a couple of weeks & rarely go out as far as 500m.

Also, I'm on an iPad Mini 2 with an older app version, so it could just be on the latest app, or android only.

OK thanks, I'll have to have a proper look next time.  I'm sure it'll be there, but I tend not to need to look at the map view very often.

Yes - Just make sure you remove your glasses. As the circle is almost the same shade of green as your glasses you may be missing it.  Haha. !
