So anyways, let us see if we can help you with your issue.  Did you update to the very latest release?
How long have you been flying and are you flying in the locations you did before your issue?

yes updated with very latest version. same location, same bird, same battery, same controller, same pilot but the upgrade. i was at very previous version 1.4.60 and ignored all updates. but i prefer to upgrade last version and my bird is a piece of junk now.

What device are you using?

In the app, i have noticed a max distance setting just under max height setting.Have you checked what distance it is set too.
I can't remember seeing it before the last update.
Remember to check all your settings in the app after any updates.

It appears DJI screwed the pooch.  They know about it.  Be patient and give them a shot at fixing it.

Am I happy about it?  No.  But we're all fairly heavily invested in our equipment.  No one is perfect.  Let's see if they get it resolved before we jump off the bridge.

I thinks this is what we are going to do at the end. Smash it with stone and video it on social media. This can be a new trend for the p3s owners. Same problem here and there. And nothi g solves this damn problem.

I've read a number of posts that claim that you must update, but a lot of people claim that they have not updated in a long time. Would the moderators care to chime in with the right answer?

No, you do not have to update. The DJI people here will tell you that it is best to fly on the latest firmware and software, burt nothing forces you to. I am still on 1.4 and have no plans to change. Just ignore the nagging in the app.

You stay on it by not upgrading. Just ignore the prompts and continue on with your life.
I am on 1.4.6 and doubt it will ever change.

I've got news for you.  The firmware version has nothing to do with the Standard range loss issue.  I also had a Standard that worked very well,  better even than advertised.  Then,  after a few flights,  I was told "Firmware Update Required".  So I updated the firmware.  Ever since then,  the Standard flies about as well as a poorly made paper airplane.  I lose signal at any range or altitude.  I lose signal even if just hovering 25 feet away and 25 feet up.  One second full bars on the signal.  Next second no signal and automatic rth.  I live in a remote area.  I have no neighbor for over a mile.  There is no interference here.  There is some issue that is related to firmware update, I think, but not firmware version.  I have been waiting since that update for a fix.  I will probably die waiting.   Oh,  the update was to firmware version 1.2.40+.  And the app is 2.60.

in dji release notes every firmware has its own app version. did you downgrade with previous app? for example v1.4.0060 has 2.7.0 android app version. please tell me how did you downgrade.

Yes,  but the point is,  I am on 1.2.40+.  A much earlier version than you. Downgrading the firmware will not fix the problem.  Once you have this problem,  only DDJI can fix it.  And if you are out of warranty, they will charge you for the fix.

when i was on v1.4.0060 my range is 1000-1200 meters and i was so happy. i don't know why did i upgrade my bird last week but i did. and now my range is 250m may be max 300m. if it is not a firmware issue so what? btw the warranty is not a problem for me.

Then you should send it to Dji.  The only other thing you can do is install a range extender of some kind.  I have been working on this issue for almost a year and I can tell you,  there is nothing you can do to fix it.  Only Dji can.  You can get better range by using a range extender or you can send it back to Dji.

ok the range extender or similar things may be a solution for extending the range and it takes maximum a half hour and may be $150 3th party extender things. but this MUST be DJI's problem that they have already ignored. and i can not accept this unfair judgment. that is my problem.

well, that's up to you.

did you try it on an area that is wide open, no houses or power lines? See if it still happens? Did you look at the video about antenna positioning?
In the city there will be interference.. I've lost signal as near at 200ft, and I also managed to fly as far as 7000ft...  It really depends....


If none of this helps, and the issue is really bad, do contact DJI.. maybe there's some issue with the drone of the RC?

I am so angry with DJI for this update.  It's clear that many Phantom owners have been crippled by the firmware/app "upgrade."  I have a P3S and could get 3000 ft video connection before the update.  It's down to about 300ft now on the same course.  I still have full control over the quad, but video disappears very fast.  I don't even want to fly it anymore.  I get the same range on my Chinese toy quads - only this cost me 7 times as much.

agree, we have Chinese toy quads. i want to turn back to 1.4.6 but the last fimware has no option for downgrade to 1.4.6. i am now searching for how to hack (or how tojunk) my controller {:4_154:}

my test area is in the middle of nowhere and zillion quadrillion square meters open area without any electricity or wifi. i have tested in every position upside down, downside up, parallel, cross. it is piece of junk.
