Hi everyone.

I've just purchased a Samsung Tab A6 to fly my P3S. It has wifi and GPS, but I cannot get the map to display at all and tried alsorts.
Google maps work perfectly, but on DJI GO app nothing, just grid lines.
I've deleted googleplay services as that was mentioned for another problem. I've contacted DJI through website and FB and no answer as yet.
Does anyone please know a solution or have I bought a tablet that is not compatible? (I've read that someone else is using the same tablet without any issues).

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

What's the model name of your tablet (probably on back of tablet)?

Have you tried to save a Google Map as offline (within Google Maps)?

When connected to the RC, your tablet is not connected to your ISP and therefore can't fetch a map.

Hi there frixster,

I experience this every now and then with my ipad air 2 cellular model, and most of the time the map will just get loaded up once the device picks a good cellular network reading. Hope your problem will only be about good/bad network signal reading.

Cheers,
Hans

Hi, it's SM-T280.

Google maps load in airplane mode and GPS sees where I am.

Thanks.

Hi,

The tablet model is SM-T280.

Google maps work fine in airplane mode and GPS sees me ok.

Maps don't load at all in DJI GO app when connected to Internet, and not the phantom. On my iPad maps load all the time.

Thanks.

Alright. My tablet is the 16 GB version and shows the street mode when out in the field connected to the Wi-Fi of the RC.

Check the 'Smart Manager' app to determine if you're at a memory limit.

Note that the Samsung Galaxy Tab A is (not yet) on the DJI approved list for Phantom 3 use.

The Tab A does not have a magnetometer so the DJI GO app unlock compass will not work right and the 'radar' feature (lower left) will not re-orient IAW tablet orientation to North. I consider this a non-essential feature.

Let me know when you get around to programming C1 & C2 - I've discovered an anomaly there.

The DJI Forum within DJI GO app does not layout very well on the 7" tablet but I rarely view it from the tablet.

Both MOV & MP4 videos generated by the UAV don't play on the tablet so you'll need to use an alternative.

I don't see a use-case for viewing a map in DJI GO when I'm not connected via Wi-Fi to the RC so I can't address that issue.

No idea what I've done, but it's started working. Maybe it's because I deleted googleplay services. There seems to be more options on the app now to do with maps too. Very strange.

I haven't taken it out for a flight yet as its a bit breezy at the moment, (it flew away quite far the other day due to the wind, so I'm quite worried to take it out in the wind now!!), but I'll test it tomorrow and see how it goes.

Thanks for your help anyway.

I took it out yesterday and had no problem at all.

I'm not sure what I'd done, but I did the following, so if anyone has the same trouble they could try the same....

1. Update the tablet.
2. Delete googleplay services from tablet.
3. Update the DJI app.
4. Clear the cache in DJI app.
5. Go onto DJI app whilst connected to the Internet and cache the maps.
6. Disconnect from any internet connection and see if maps are displayed.

Just something off-topic..

I don't recommend people buying Android tablets, because unlike iPad, they get very few apps optimized for tablet.
