This may sound stupid and I'm not, but I can't find where I register my two Phantoms.

not a stupid question.  they buried it in an obscure place.  go to your profile (click your name at top right) and then click CHANGE PWD (yes, i know, not obvious).  on the next screen there is a link for 'register new product'.  let me know if you cant find it and ill give screenshots.

Download the windows drivers,
DJI Phantom 2 Vision Assistant_3.6
DJI RC System Assistant_1.2
and the manual for the bird you will get.  Do all the calibrations and read the manual, and quick start guide.  It will save a lot of unexpected surprises before you fly.

Oh yes, it arrives tomorrow so I expect first flight to be in about a week. There is no way I'm rushing this but thanks for the solid advice.
