So 2 days ago i bought a DJI Phantom 3 Standard, updated the firmware etc. The problem is, when i connect my phantom with DJI Go the screen is black and doesn't show the camera preview. This happens on Samsung Galaxy S3 (GT-i9305), but when I connect with my Samsung Galaxy S3 mini (GT-i8190) it works fine. Its laggy because this phone is old and i would like to use it on my S3.

The drone CANNOT be broken, i think its GO app issue or my S3.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hello KrasheR, both of your devices may not strong enough. I'd suggest you to try the devices in the list below.What's more, you can also reinstall the DJI GO app on your S3 after syncing all the flight records.

Buying a cheap Android tablet for about 100$ would be a good idea.

That wouldn't be a problem if the clip which is holding the device was bigger. The DJI Phantom 3 RC clip cannot handle tablets etc.

Sure it can. How do you think all of us use ipads and android tablets and DJI recommends them?Or do you have a standard?

Yeah, he has a Phantom 3 Standard.   The clip on it is pretty small, I'm not sure if there's any after market accessories one can buy about it though.

A big screen is infinitely better if you fly regularly. Details are too difficult to see on a 5-inch phone screen when you're flying and can't get to the screen as close as you normally use a cellphone.

I do not know. You can buy some cheap ones and test, if it doesn't work, then return the tablets. It depends on the return policy of merchandise in your country.

I do not understand DJI !! I received my Phantom 3 Standard yesterday .. before hitting anything, plugged everything in to get it fully charged (good 2 hours) .. during that time, figured I sit and watch most of the tutorial videos.

Well, once I was comfortable .. put it all together .. now, I'm using a Verizon Samsung Galaxy S7 edge for the DJI Go. So .. steps I followed:

1. Turned on RC
2. Connected SGS7edge via WiFi to PHANTOM
3. Turned on Drone (waited good minute)
4. Executed DJI Go
5. DJI Go connected, Camera highlighted (blue) to view, everything good

This is where the nightmare started .. DJI Go tells me to update the Firmware .. so, updated (I should have hit the FORUMS before doing this) .. 100% Completed .. reset all.

1. Turned on RC
2. Connected SGS7edge via WiFi to PHANTOM
3. Turned on Drone (waited good minute)
4. Executed DJI Go
5. DJI Go connected, Camera is no longer highlighted blue to view,  stays grey and nothing
6. Drone is continuously fast flashing (I don't know if it even white or yellow) the rear lights on the blades and beeping !!!
7. RC light always red now .. will no longer switch to green !!! So this is telling me that the RC will not bind with the Drone !!!

I've had this damn thing 5 hours, hadn't even been able to get it outside to enjoy for a minute .. Not exactly the GREAT IMPRESSION you want to give a new customer DJI !!!

This thing is heading back to Best Buy today.

Have you tried updating the firmware again? My P3S failed at first attempt of the update too.

Yes .. followed many instructions on this forum in regards to wiping the sd card and placing the *.bin file at root and trying again .. even followed one instruction for trying to downgrade back to 1.5.07 .. everything and anything I did resulted in the same.

The only strange thing I noticed was from "DJI-Paladin" post in regards to the compatibility of devices to the App version on IOS and Android .. My Samsung Galaxy S7 edge didn't even make the listing !!!

Not going to bother .. they'll just tell me to send it in to there support. Since I just got this yesterday from a local retailer here in the US called Best Buy .. I'm just going to return it. Just undecided on whether to just refund or exchange.

I am using a 9.7" tablet with my P3P and the RC holder works fine. Firmware updates are the problem now.

And what about Lenovo tablet A7600-h android 4.4.2 ?When i switch from camera to photo no signal appears on the screen and the app stops.Is that firmware problem ???Phantom 3stand

I have one of these on another radio. It is pretty strong and holds tight.

Be sure you are using the correct firmware version. It kind of sounds like you might have loaded the wrong bin file. There are three or four different firmware versions. Pro, advanced, standard and maybe the 4K .

He has a standard. It has a little holder for phones only.

Well this time, all went very smooth. Still using my Samsung Galaxy S7 edge .. placed everything in Airplane Mode and enabled WiFi only.

This time, I did nothing in regards to firmware updates

Took the P3S for a small test flight lastnight in the park around my apartment .. smooth and extremely responsive .. definitely impressed.

Now to hit the tutorials to see what this can really do
