I've downloaded and installed the software for my pc and yet the pc does not connect to the phantom when plugged in and switched on.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

What exactly did you download and install on your computer?

Specifically, did you follow the instructions and install the DRIVER 1st!

I did plug in the phantom prior to the driver.

you need to download the "windows driver"
DJI Phantom 2 Vision Assistant_3.6
DJI RC System Assistant_1.2

Download and install the Windows driver first before you can connect to the Phantom

Did you download and install the WINDOWS DRIVER?  There are 3 things you need to download and install,  not 2.

It is actually called:
DJI WIN Driver Installer

It is further down the list (and the last Windows software before the Mac software starts) and has confused many a people..
The other two you have loaded are useless without this...once installed, all will be good!

Yep.  Works good.  Thanks for the help!

I just got my P2VP and it would be great if you guys had a list of the stuff you need to do the first time, out of the box.  (software to install and in what order, firmware updates that are essential and the most important settings and calibration required through the software).

I am sure I can figure it out but a good list would make life easier for a newbie like me..

The first is downloading the updated version of the manual, read it an then check this out:

It contains a link to a great resource full of links to tutorials and videos with pretty well everything you ever need and should know about the Phantom.
