Wow, lost camera comms with P3P right before mission. I am using a Droid tablet and just could not established camera comms. To trouble shoot I switched to my Droid phone and there it was. Shut down just to work on the tablet and no go. Went back to phone and no comms with the camera? Spoke with DJI tech and they asked me to do some upgrades to firmware over chat. Time ran out and in the morning decided to try conneting to tab. No go? Read some forum post and some were suggesting a new power up proceedure. First tablet, then controller and last craft, it works!

Why no notification about this I'm unsure. I have not flown under this proceedure until I get to open safe filed for tests. Any body else have comments on this?

When I got mine a little over a year ago, it was RC, device, drone.  I've done it that way ever since, but I've noticed it seems to make no difference mixing them up.

Like Gary says ... either should work just fine.
There's no "new" way to power up.
