After reading many threads about how you should takeoff/land your drone i am looking for a landing pad. it needs to be off the ground slightly and able to hold the p3a model. I know that hand launching your phantom is dangerous and i dont want to get anything in the motors when taking off and landing right in the ground. i am currently using the box that my p3a came in which isnt ideal. the pad doesnt need to be anything fancy just somthing to get the p3a off the ground for takeoff and landing. any help findsing one will be greatly received. thanks

I am considering a rubber/silicone mat for use on grass the to protect the gimbal etc. I have recently ordered a couple of these for my cat's food and water areas and I may nab one for use with the drone: http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00VM0OJRW

Hello,
I made a landing pad with a 2ft x 2ft piece of pvc board. It is waterproof, lightweight, not expensive and very rigid. It has enough surface area to land a Phantom safely. Hope this helps.

There are several landing pads on the web.   Although the following isn't set 'off the ground' it is a great/portable landing pad...I posted this last week:

$25 landing pad

I use one of these camping tables
http://www.gooutdoors.co.uk/hi-gear-low-picnic-table-p321421
https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/prod ... e?ie=UTF8&psc=1

The legs fold flat so it can lay on the ground or if the terrain is really rough the legs keep everything clear and level. Got a couple of spirit level bubbles I've stuck to it. Also handy to have a solid surface for my coffee cup.

I got a hardshell backpack and just used that the last time I was flying at the beach and off some really uneven rocky cliffs.

Go to your local Wal-Mart or AutoZone or similar store and pick up a set of these sun shades for your windshield.  They operate exactly like the landing pad that Flight Raptor posted, they are made of the same material, they are only $12 and you kill two birds with one stone.  They come in a couple different sizes for larger windshields.  I use mine for launches only to minimize dust and debris and then I always hand catch to land.  Just another idea.

Nice option, just NOTE:  The car shades use a lightweighted rubber material around the edges  The pad i posted uses a flexible metal that acts as a weght around the outside of the pad so it doesn't blow around in the wind or the downdraft from your props.

Those are pretty cool, but still look large to put into a backback and seem quite pricey...unless Google is showing me a different style bivvy than you use.

Is there a specific one you have?

Yes that's my main concern as the table is all metal then, was thinking of a lid of a big plastic storage box,or even a thick rubber mat similar to car mats bit in a square shape.

If the table is made of aluminium as I suspect, it will not be an issue. Nice idea.

Keep it simple Mate, a Piece of cardboard works well, heavy car mats  that would fit in the boot work great.  I have a SUV here in the USA and have a heavy mat that is about a meter  square , works brilliant.  This also keeps the bird clean for takeoffs and landings and wont kick up so much dust .

all the best
