I have a p3s I am using a sun guard that works fairly well but I have been  trying to fly in low light situations like sunrise and dusk .
What filters are available and when is it best to use them? I have seen several types but they don't say what they are for and when its best to use them.thanks

Sun guards do not work. The ones that mount on the camera? They are garbage. They can also catch the wind and push the camera down or up.
What are you looking to film? Usually filters are for cinematic purposes and not for blocking out sunlight. There are settings in the app under camera for different lighting conditions.

I use the DJI ND 16 filter for bright sunny days, ND8 for overcast and ND4 for evening/dusk/twilight. The ND filter allows you to slow your shutter speed and helps to eliminate rolling shutter and jello effect. They are not ideal for still photos.

I also have a polarizing filter that I use. It helps to bring out color by filtering light. It also helps prevent one part of the photo/video from being overexposed while other parts are under or ideally exposed.

Which filter to use depends on several things like intended result and brightness. This article is a good starting point for learning more:

You can also find lots of info on youtube.

You can't slow the shutter down without ND filters! As for being garbage....thats your opinion. I know how to use them properly.

Our most popular filters are the ND/Polarizer combo filters:
https://www.polarprofilters.com/ ... es-vivid-collection

I personally shoot the ND8/PL or ND16/PL 95% of the time.
ND8/PL for partly cloudy
ND16/PL for sunny days is a pretty common equation to get your shutter in the sweetspot.

Hope that helps!
