Bought a new Phantom 4 yesterday....got it home. took out of box. Charged up everything. Downloaded the DJI GO app to my ipad air 2. went to the quick start guide. and followed the steps.
Power up remote
Power up drone
plug cable from remote to ipad
nothing happens -- the activation screen doesn't appear (or request for firmware update) and the app stays on the main screen - cant access the equipment icon lower left corner.
This is my second phantom 4. I bought one for the kids. My first one worked perfect out of the box. So it's not like I haven't done this once already. Yet here I am lost....
Any advice anyone?
Also this is a completely separate ipad air 2 from my other one for my first phantom 4. Both units are independent in that sense. Not trying to share anything between the two yet no activation process begins....
Another thing to check is If the LED on the remote is Green then your P4 is connected to the remote. Then try with the connection between the iPad and the remote. It happens to me most of the time. Simply disconnect the iPad and reconnect and it supposed to solve the problem.
Hi sir, agree with them, in addition, please try to delete APP and re-install it, or change another mobile device to have a test.
BTW, may I have the aircraft SN which located in battery compartment.
This was the problem actually -- a bad cable straight out of the box from an amazon supplier. Used my original cable and it activated and registered and firmware updated all fine. Great suggestion! Sometimes new is not always New.....
Well everyone it would appear it was the cable from the remote to the Ipad was the issue..... Thanks everyone for the suggestions. It was actually the thought of one of you to not assume my new cable straight out of the box would be bad - but it was. Must of been made on a Friday at the manufacture at quitting time.... LOL Once I used my original cable from drone #1 - everything registered - activated and firmware updated just fine.

Green light on remote is lit -- it was the connection to the ipad (bad cable) -- your input helped me track it to the cable along with another user. Thanks a million.
