Hi all
Newbie online....
Looking to take my P4 with me on holiday.
Has anybody taken thier P4 on a plane and what to recommend to minimise being refused flight because of batteries etc.
Thanks.

Hi
I took my P4 and 3 batteries(in LIPO safe bags) to Italy, no problem at all. I took them all on as hand luggage, Hope this helps.

If you have checked luggage, put the battery in there. If you are just bringing carry-ons, put the battery in a backpack and the drone and controller in the carry-on or case.

Thanks for that. I have the DJI Rucksack so it will all fit in there.  @ Jack, I did read that putting batteries into your checked luggage is a no-no unless they have relaxed this policy.
Looks like I'll have to get a Lipo safe bag then.

It really doesn't matter anymore. You aren't supposed to have remotes (TV, Toys, etc...) on an aircraft, but it makes no difference.

Ok.  I do suppose which airport you go through as to how they may react.
Being as I have only had my P4 for 4 days I have not flown it yet as not had the chance and the weather has put a stop to it.
I am playing with it on my lounge floor getting used to the controls etc.
The only issue I have right now is that I cannot move the camera from side to side. It moves about half inch then that's it. It's fine on the vertical movement.
Does it need to be in flight before the horizontal axis is active?
I'm hoping the gimbal isn't faulty.  I did the update a couple of nights ago.  Any ideas?

First, ignore everything Jack has told you.
He seems to specialise in giving wrong information.

People carry their Phantoms on planes every day with no problems.
Go to your airline's website and search for lithium or batteries to see their requirements.
You will not be able to put batteries in your checked luggage - they must be in carry-on.

It's normal that you can't move the camera laft and right.
If you could all you'd see is the landing gear.
You look left and right by rotating the aircraft left or right.

Looking on British Airways T&C's they only mention Lithium Ion metal batteries and not polymer

Thank you for your input.  Much appreciated.

The only company that I have found so far that refuses quadcopter as carry on and similar gadgets are Emirates but as laboroides say check the specific airline for more information. The batteries should be below 100 mili amp I think it was. The P3/4 is 68 or something similar.

Call the airline you are traveling on and ask them what their policy is, they can guide you.. all airlines have different policies concerning batteries.

You'll find that their battery policies are almost all the same.
And calling, you are likely to be talking to someone that doesn't know.
When people don't know it's easier for them to say no.

Just search for batteries or Lithium on the airline's website and you'll get the facts.
And they will be ... keep the batteries in your carry-on luggage.

I just spent the month of August traveling for work in the US and every airline I flew on had a slightly different policy regarding batteries
