I love how portable the mavic is, but my #1 feature I care about is image quality.  Should I just get a P4 and some Nd filters?  Am I just wasting my time here waiting for my mavic?

From what I've seen the P4 has the edge on FOV, Image quality (just) and gimbal stability. It's also not an unknown factor and there are more accessories available. If size isn't an issue the P4 is still a great bit of kit. Best of all you could go get one right now

Get a used P4, could probably grab it for a good price because of the Mavic

This is bogus. I checked on eBay hoping to steal a bargain. They have barely dropped in price at all. Maybe next year when the mavic is finally established

P3 Pro is the one to get.  It's pretty much a P4 without forward cameras.  Research it & you'll be pleased.  Now THOSE are going for very enticing prices with extras like batteries, goggles, props, HDMI mod, etc.  Don't forget to click "SOLD LISTINGS" when searching to get a good feel for what stuff is ACTUALLY going for on eBay.

Yes.   And St. Pauli is searching correctly for these on eBay.   You don't look for what unsold auctions are asking for.   You search on completed items to see what they are actually selling for.  This is how I determine what price to ask for my auctions on eBay.

I just grabbed a P4 with some ND filters from Best Buy, rather go new than used with this stuff.  I think I will still buy a Mavic when it comes out, but it's time to make some movies Thanks for your help everyone

Ill be using my P4, when returned from repair, for artsy fartsy shots but am looking to get a mavic when they hit the uk for opportunist moments when i can just whip it out.

The P4 will have slightly better image quality.  And the P4 has all of the software bugs worked out.  It's stable.  And it takes great video.

The Mavic is smaller.  The Mavic is in short supply right now and it may take  a while for all the bugs to get worked out...

If you don't care about size...  I would say now is a great time to look for a deal on a P4.

The P4 is still portable. It just wont fit down your pants.

Also.... I love my new Phantom so much.  Only had one flight but it's just a so great to fly and I feel addicted

I have a P4......I love flying it here along the coast....great piece of technology.
Now anxiously waiting for my Mavic Pro......ordered it with DJI on 10/24/16...Hope to get it around mid November.
Get both if you can afford it.

DJI Care Refresh may or may not be covered if you attempt to track another aircraft and end up crashing.
You can call 818-235-0789 in the morning and ask support.

if the Mavic had a 35 minute flight time, an 8 mile range, and a 55mph speed, i'd really want it. The portability factor isnt that big of a deal to me since I can fit my phantom and extras into a standard backpack. Plus extra batteries for the Phantom 3 can be had for significantly less.
