Can anyone suggest a good video editor to use with my DJI video?  Also is there any other control software other than the DJI go?

     There is Microsoft MovieMaker, GoPro Studio and a few other free editing programs.  When you get real good, the best free editing program is BlackMagic's DaVinci Resolve 12.5.  The color correction is amazing and the manual is 1000 pages.

     As for alternative control programs, there is the favorite Litchi, also Autopilot and a few others.  It depends on what you want to do.

I use Powerdirector, as I find it really simple and easy to remove unwanted footage, which is 96% of editing.

Just select a bit, sliding the little sub-tab, click 'Remove'. It asks if you want to leave a gap or move other stuff to fill it, select the fill it option, done. I really can't understand why other software makes such a simple thing so awkward?

I'm on version 11, I think Powerdirector 15 is out now. It's around $100 or so, maybe $130, something like that.
