I have flown my Phantom a total of three different times for a total of one hour flying time.  I was able to record video to the Micro SD card on the first two flights.  On the third flight, no video was recorded to the SD card even though I selected to record video in the cell phone display, and I was able to view the scenes from the camera on my cell phone during the flight.    The video that failed (DJI00002.MP4) simply displayed multicolored pixellated gibberish.  I have updated the camera firmware to the latest release just prior to that third (no video) flight.  Anyone have a clue as to why this is happening and how to correct this failure?

Did you turn off the Phantom before you stopped the video?  That will corrupt the last video running when you power down the Phantom first before stopping the video.

What class SD card ? Class 10 to get good results. Also, make sure you turn off video before you turn off phantom, it can  corrupt the file.

I surely did shut off the Phantom before shutting off the camera.  Thank you.  I will check that out on the next flight.

There is a way to recover corrupted video.  Insert the sd card in the Phantom and start another video for 15 seconds or more.  The corrupted one should rewrite the ending sequence and then can be viewable.  I haven't had to do that yet, so I am not sure that would work but some posters say it does.

To all you smart people who responded to me.  It worked:  Shut off the camera before shutting off the drone.  Thanks so much.  At the same time I did the original post on this, I petitioned DJI Tech. support on this and they responded with, "return for repairs."  Wouldn't it be nice if they knew what the answer to my problems was as well.  Thanks again.

"return for repairs."

That is their "canned" answer when they have no idea what is going on.  Happy Flying!
