My gimbal appears dead after flying once since the recent update. When I boot up my P4P, the camera centers itself horizontally but doesn't do the normal "dance". Also, I have no control over vertical tilt. I've treated rebooting multiple times and refreshing the firmware. Calibrating the gimbal freezes at 5%.

Any ideas?

Hello I had the exact same issue. I believe this is because one time you started the drone you there wasnt enough ground clearance for the gimbals full range of motion. I tried refreshing firmware and it didnt work. However when I downgraded the previous firmware it was fixed. Give that a go

Sadly this didn't help. When I boot up the drone, I can actually hear something happening near the gimbal when it should be doing it's start-up movements.

When you enter 'camera view', do you see error message such as 'gimbal disconnected' or does it appear to look fine through the app?

Would it be possible for you to provide a small video of what you're experiencing?

As for what I see on the phone, everything looks normal, I can see what the camera sees, I just can't tilt the camera and the gimbal does not stabilize any movements of the drone.

Please try to touch the gimbal camera with your fingers and check whether it will response or not.
There're no any issues for the flight after firmware upgrading, right? it suddenly cannot finish auto-calibration? have you tried to calibrate it manually?
Please make sure you upgrade it successfully and also you can try to downgrade it if possible then check again.

The gimbal doesn't respond to touch or movement at all. It's completely limp. It does not finish auto-calibration. What do you mean by calibrate manually?

I think it's fixed. I downgraded to very old firmware and it works. Now upgrading to the most recent.

Still having issues. Upgrading to the most recent version failed. Now I'm updating incrementally to the latest firmware. Sometimes when I turn on the drone the gimbal will be stuck in a downward position. I am going to continue upgrading the firmware until I am at the latest version.

I have just exactly the same problem. Only detail which might not has been mentioned is that the camera shows a bit of movement (left-right) - shaking, while at the same time looks dead. Everything happened after last firmware update.

Guys I did a video on this recently when had issue with p4pro.. As someone else said a temp fix is to downgrade firmware and then upgrade to latest

switch off the aircraft....
switch off the transmitter

power on... aircraft
and transmitter...

than all is oke

no IMU problem eater

Its ocurs again if you switch first the aircraft and then the transmitter.

Rumoured to be an issue with new processor chip in IP7 will be fixed eventually

I just inboxed my P4P today for the first time, firmware to latest and I'm getting the exact same problem. I am on an iPhone 6S Plus.

No. Currently my gimbal is in a "forced down" position.

I have got the same problems with phantom 4 pro plus

if it happens than i switch the procedure of switching on...

first RC than AC or reverse...
this will fix the problem

but it is a bug (ver 203)

This does not fix the problem. Try downgrading the firmware through Assistant 2, to firmware ending in .50 it worked for me and I was told by DJI customer support to stay at this FW until they release a fix.

Everything is working okay for me so far on the current firmware (after upgrading and downgrading a few times)
