Wouldn't the blade wash be spraying sea water all over the undercarriage of the Inspire?  Neat creation, but those guys must have more money than me to be trying such possibly fatal tricks with a $3k+ machine.

Dundee...very innovative and creative.  Would be very useful especially for those using the Inspire close to obstacles or large groups of people.  Don't listen to Mike-the-cat in the other thread, every post I've seen him make has been negative.  I think you could make some cash with it, would take a lot of R&D though...

Vortex Ring State just waiting to happen.. The grills on the guards would likely increase the potential of increased prop wash.

i am willing to give in some agility and flighttime if it boosts more safety

It looks a bit more burlesk, doesn't it  ;)

Looks very interesting.
But unless I am very much mistaken the props would then be enclosed slightly within the cylinder of the housing. And pitch would need to be increased to achieve similar horizontal momentum.
All the craft that I have seen with shielded props, the whole prop, motor and housing rotate to maintain the right amount of clean airflow to the props.

Nice idea.

Can DJI not simply offer some prop guards that can be clipped on to the rotor heads in a similar fashion to the prop locks.  Theu need to be able to be taken off for travel though, not permanent fixtures like the Phantom guards.

I think there was a recent article showing that ducted fans could actually increase performance - but I suspect these would be very scientific and engineered ducted fans.

It would decrease flight time because of weight, it will also make it way less stable because of the wind. There should be prop guards similar to the phantom that should be made for the Inspire 1.

Yes, but ducted fans have very tight clearances between the fan blades and the housing.

Not wanting to be a devil's advocate, but what happens when debris, like leaves, get sucked onto the top surface of the screen, blocking airflow over that motor?

We don't live in a perfect world do we ?
What about this then ?
Better blocked airflow then cut fingers. Just my 2 cents
