I have a P3P that has 315 flights, 291 miles distance traveled and 56 hours total air time.  About 2 months outside of the warranty one of the motor mounts failed on takeoff.  It happened on the ground, so nothing was damaged other than the mount.  Is there any shot in hell that DJI would consider fixing this as a warranty repair - even though it's outside of the warranty?  I have a P4 and a P4P, but my P4 is currently being repaired for a defective camera.  It's frustrating to have purchased 3 drones in the last 18-months, never crashed, and only one is working.

You just have to ask them. That looks like the old shell that they replace a lot.I have heard here on the forum of one that was replaced with no proof of purchase, who knows!
If Dji won't cover it you can buy a shell and diy or pay a local shop .On DJI's site you can view the newer shell and see the added support.

The diagonal ribs were added.

Yeah, my 1 yr old P3P also start showing some cracks on one arm. This is the main reason for changing braking dynamics, implemented with latest firmware update. If you perform successful update, you'll need more space ahead any obstacle before your bird halts.

I actually found these supports but it's the same thing as what I recommended with the prop guard mount

I looks like that would have prevented this kind of failure, I might have to get some!

Like others have mentioned, this repair would most likely not be covered by warranty due to it being that far out of the warranty period. there are DIY and repair services options for just a shell replacement, if nothing else is damaged. Just to clarify, you didn't notice any shell damage prior to arming the motors and this was the result of arming them? How long have you had the unit stored and do you keep it in a case or out of one?

I used the aircraft almost daily and never noticed a crack or any fatigue.  I'm a commercial operator and averaged around 8 flights per 5-day week.  But, I admit that I may not have noticed cracks underneath the motors.  I was typically looking for cracks on the actual arms.  Although, I did routinely inspect the entire shell.  I'm going to send it to DJI to see what they can do.  I would prefer they repair it over someone else, since it will be used for commercial operations.

I sure like the looks of those metal pieces in the ebay link above.  I hadn't looked for quite awhile and was unaware that anyone had taken it up to that level.  I leave my guard mounts on all the time just to "hold things together".  My shell has had cracks since right after it was new 17 months ago.  If I put a new shell on it, those metal mounts are going on it too.

I bought a set of the metal mounts last month, they ship from china. Still waiting for them.
