The phantom four is advertised as having a range of 3.1 miles. However when I get out to about 1500 to 1600 feet it loses contact with the controller this is in an open area with no obstacles. I have seen videos of the phantom 4 going a lot further.  Is there anything that I should change to make it go farther and is anyone else having this issue. I am flying about  200 to 300 feet in the air when this is occurring

are you flying in the city ? if you do that is pretty much the distance you will get with the standard antennas, try it outside the city. I can go about 7000 ft in the city with DBS antenna mod

Are your antennas properly positioned on the remote?

I am not really in the city more costal Florida and yes the antennas are pointed at 45 degree angle and pointing straight at the bird

Antennas should be perpendicular to the AC, not pointing at it.. Signals emanate from (and propagate to) the sides of the RC antennas, not the tip. At close range, no problem. But at longer distances, proper orientation  is essential.

Thanks, that is the way i position my Antenna and as far as the version of firm ware i wil have to check tonight when i get home
