Hi guys!

Bought my Phantom 2 about a month ago, was flying it yesterday and all of a sudden it just started flying into a direction of a tree, hit the tree, fell 15 metres and hit the deck. Tried to turn it back on, now all I get is 3 flashing red leds when I try to power it on from the remote.

I did a bit of googling, found this http://www.todophantom.com/error ... telligent-battery/.

I opened it up, this was indeed a problem. It was no longer sitting where it should be. I managed to get it to start ONCE by pushing it on, but now it won't start at all. When I checked the voltage coming out of the battery, there was voltage coming out of only one area, the bigger one, as seen below. The other small has no voltage coming out of it. Is this normal? Must I solder the broken wire/cable thing back on?

From my tests, theres no voltage coming out that other area as a standalone battery, nor is there any voltage feeding into that wire that has come loose from the mother board.

Any help woulkd be greatly appreciated!

On the inside of the Phantom where the battery plugs into, you will find 2 little push pins on the bottom of the plug.  Make sure they are still there and moveable and not damaged or dirty.  They are for your connection for intelligent battery.

Did you unplug any wiring on the inside of the Phantom?

No, only tried to plug the one that had come unplugged, as per the link above.

I'm not sure where that would plug into.  Your best bet now is to send an email to where you purchased it and see what their techs say.  Supply them with photos if you can.

Then you must have something else going on inside.  Do you have another battery to see if that one works ok?

Then there is something inside messed up from the crash.  I would be contacting them again for repairs.

They advised taking it to a repair joint a little way aways from me, so I'd rather fix it myself if I can than take it there.

If you've got any other ideas, I'm open ears.

I've only had that message one time, it was due to one of the push pins coming out.  I replaced the internal plug and everything works as advertised after that.  If someone with other ideas would step in here and help out.  it would be very appreciated.  Any other ideas I might have would be pure speculation.

Would you be able to do me a favour and take a close up picture of the intelligent battery port thing on the battery itself? The two golden bits?

I have 4 batteries, 3 with square pads and 1 with round pads.  Since the dealer put in another battery, and you got the same message, it is not a defective battery, it is internal.

I think the damage is inside somewhere caused by the crash,  It could be a cracked solder joint on the circuit board caused by the wire being ripped off the plug in spot.  It could be the board itself.

The plug might have made contact internally where you plugged in the wire the first time, but vibration made it become loose again after it started once.  That is a possibility.  I cannot speculate on that because it would be only a guess.

It's definitely interesting. I'm going to run the battery completely down (however long that may take with just the LED using the power). If you have any ideas how I can do this fast that'd be great.
