Gimbal reversed?

I was flying my Mavic yesterday briefly and the gimbal gave me the standard "Heat Overload, Remove Clamp" warning. Upon looking closely, I noticed the camera was pointed completely backwards and would periodically make the click as it flipped forward, but never returned to position.
I tried everything I could find in the forums to fix it (starting it upside down, recal compass, recal UMI, recal with Assistant 2) yet none seemed to work. The thing has never had any flying issues, but I often take off and land in the desert and worry/wonder if the dirt has caused this?

How is that possible?  An anomaly for sure....or a demonic possession in need of an exorcism.

On the older phantom gimbals, there is a rotary encoder which gives the feedback position to control the motor. It's most likely slipped on the shaft, or defective. Your best bet is to return it for service.

Have you tried to do the gimbal calibration?
If still no improvement, I'd suggest you to send it in for further evaluation.

I have tried the gimbal calibration to no avail. Unfortunately, this one might need a visit. (personally I blame my new producer, because it is bad luck whenever she is on set...)

It's worth to refresh the firmware again via DJI assistant.

I submitted the request a few days ago, but never heard back from DJI. Any chance there is a way to see where it is in the system?
