Hi all,
Ive been frantically trying to find someone to help me out... I can't figure out how to trouble shoot this "battery error" im getting in the DJI Go app, which also throws 4 red lights under my phantom.  Heres how it all went down.

  • Flew my P3S several times problem free on the current battery.
  • Attached prop guards
  • One day decided to remove prop guards, used the same screws to re-attach motors thus ruing the motor coils
  • Powered it up, 3-4 times not knowing what the issue was, drone wouldnt give me the typical boot up sound.
  • Discovered the issue, hated my self and grieved.  Then ordered a set of 4 new 2312a motors.
  • Researched that it was either the 2312 motor, or the 2312a.  Was told 2312a was the one.  Looks identical to the motors to be replaced.
  • Received motors, removed old ones and soldered on the new ones.
  • Go for my first flight and 5 seconds after lift off i get "battery error" and ground it.
  • Try again this time fly 100ft up and down to test it.  Once i reach 100ft or so i stop and hover and battery error disappears, fly doward, all good till I come to a stop and battery error again
  • My assumption at this point is that its related to the load with the props.
  • Bring drone in, take off props and spin up the motors.  No battery error.  Error only happens when flying with prop load.
  • Research and figure it may be the battery failing due to the load.  maybe fried it from powering up when motors were ruined.
  • Buy brand new DJI battery from best buy, charge up to 100% and test.
  • Same battery error in DJI Go app
  • Opened P3S back up and checked solder connections, all seems to check out.
So now what?  How can I trouble shoot this?  I feel like I've tested everything I can!

Im terrified that my new drone is bricked.   Is there any way to test the ESC board to troubleshoot?

Any help would be so GREATLY appreciated guys.

Aloha Mack,

Aside from what Mr. Colada said, have you checked for any battery firmware updates?  I have no experience with the P3S but I thought it might be worth a shot.

     Hope this helps!

Aloha and Drone On!

May I know how long you've owned it? You noticed the error after a firmware updating or not?
You've tried to full charge it then full discharge and still the same case, right?
When checking battery info on APP, everything shows fine?

Hi Natalia,

I bought it refurbished from DJI about 60 days ago.   I just updated firmware yesterday and the error persisted before and after the update.

I've also tried charging 100% and fully discharging.  I also bought a brand new battery and did the same thing.

The app shows everything is fine, accept when the battery error happens.  When the battery error happens, everything under the battery details says "n/a".  As soon as I land (and the props stop) everything goes right back to ready state and is green for go.

This is rather interesting as nothing comes up as abnormal. On thing I did notice on your other post was how low the battery warning were. My critical is 10% while the low batt warning is 30%. Just for interest, how low do you fly your batteries down to?

Hi Natalia,

That seems interesting, would you please sync your flight records through DJI GO, then send an e-mail to support.us@dji.com with your APP account (e-mail address) and the exact time it happened.
Also please try to export the flight data as the instruction and attach it to the e-mail: https://support.dronesmadeeasy.com/hc/en-us/articles/206171443
Our engineers will help you analyze the data and let you know the result.
