To answer your question, yes it'll need repair or replacement.  I've already been down this road.  Instead of messing around with getting a BRAND NEW product repaired, I replaced it.  I did this because I did not want the run-around or wait another few weeks/months.

Buy another 1.  Return that 1.  You'll be much happier and you won't waste time.
