Two strange anomolies which are pretty distracting. Not sure what you can do to correct them yourself?

You might have a camera that needs some tweaking. ;-)

That pattern on highlights means you have a faulty camera. Best advice is to send it back to DJI for repair.

I am starting to wonder if filming the sun to many times is causing photo censor damage.

The Sony sensors within our drones aren't going to be damaged by simple Sun light.  Perhaps if you left it aimed at the Sun for an extended period of time. A laser could probably fry them though. ;-)

Are you sending it back for assessment and camera repair?

Yeah it was just a thought. They tell you not to allow the sun to hit goggle lenses, I know they are not Photo censors but thought there might be a connection to prolonged sun exposure anyway.

If you want to aim at the Sun deliberately, I thought a proper uv lens filter would be advised. ;-)
But this enlightening article seems to say otherwise. For sunsets anyway...

Anyway, these cameras aren't built for real serious photography.  Hobby class drones.
I have a Nikon D800 for that. ;-)

Just to clarify, was this happening right out of the box or was it after a firmware update or hard landing?
