Hi everyone, bought my very first drone and I am really excited about it.

I have attempted and failed setting up my drone.

1) I am unsuccessfull in calibrating my compass, it works horizontally but fails vertically.

2) I have RC signal lost message on upper left side on the DJI app screen.

3) Once i turned off the remote control or the aircraft, I get the disconnected message and I can only connect if reinstall the app.

Is there anyone who can help me set up please, I am happy to pay for it.

Thanks

When you are calibrating the compass, ensure you aren't near anything that can cause interference (anything metal). Your calibration process should look like this:

Secondly, if still have connectivity issues, and this goes for any issues, update your drone to the latest firmware. The DJI Go app should prompt you if there is an available update.

I live in Sydney and I have P3S, I managed to fix the RC connection is lost error by reconnecting/pressing the reset button with a screw driver.

Thanks

Good news.

I am on the Far North Coast on NSW.

Before you fly beware of some of the recent problems which have been affecting the P3S. Some people have had the Home Point suddenly change, often to a point 1-2km WNW from their location and the drone then heads off to that position. This has been occuring when the Beginner Mode or Max Distance is set on.  To be on the safe side I would make sure both these are turned off.

Enjoy your new toy.

The most important thing that you can do when beginning is read the WHOLE manual.

Also learn what laws apply to you in NSW and other parts of Australia for droning.

Current regulations for Australia

Flying with control - rules for flying drones and model aircraft safely

When flying drones or model aircraft recreationally, you need to follow these simple drone rules to keep everyone safe.

  • You should only fly in visual line-of-sight, in day visual meteorological conditions (VMC). What does that mean?
    • No night flying (generally).
    • No flying in or through cloud or fog, and you should.
    • Be  able to see the aircraft with your own eyes (rather than through  first-person-view [FPV, binoculars, telescopes]) at all times, (unless you operate under the procedures of an approved model flying association.  Contact the MAAA for more information about flying FPV).
  • You  must not fly closer than 30 metres to vehicles, boats, buildings or people.
  • You must not fly over populous areas such as beaches, heavily populated parks, or sports ovals while they are in use.
  • In controlled airspace, which covers most Australian cities, you must not fly higher than 120 metres (400 feet) above the ground.
  • You must not fly in a way that creates a hazard to other aircraft, so you should keep at least 5.5 km away from airfields, aerodromes and helicopter landing sites.

Operations within the 3nm (5.5km) radius of an aerodrome or helicopter landing site are possible and lawful providing you comply with the Standard Operating Conditions listed above and ensure that you do not operate:

  • on  the approach and departure path, or
  • within the movement area, or
  • create a hazard to aircraft that may be using those areas.

With regard to the compass calibration, you may find it works when you rotate through slightly more than 360 degrees.

I have found that it requires a bit of overshoot too.

@ErikaBolt,  Welcome to the forum and extended Phantom family.

Yes, I would concur, & in agreement with Geoff, about going beyond the suggested 360*.

You might even have to turn the drone more along the 400* point.  It's been noted here in the past.

Enjoy your drone, and time well spent, while in the forum. ;-)

Thanks, I had a similar problem. I kept saying disconnected or signal lost. The reset fixed mine too
