Hi,

what kind of insurance (if any) do you guys have for your drones?
I was hoping it's going to be included in my business insurance (photo / video studio), but I was informed this morning that it's considered an aircraft (surprise!?), so it's not included in the policy I have.

So, can anybody recommend any insurance here in the US, which I wouldn't have problem with later on in case of a claim?

Thanks!
Peter

You can't go wrong with verifly! Best on-demand liability insurance for drone pilots that out there right now.

I just got insurance through State Farm here in New Jersey too. Cost me $50 for the year. No deductible. Waiting for the policy paperwork to come through the mail. Got the email policy for now. Really cheap compared to the DJI Care plans.

Those who got insurance through State Farm, did you already have a policy to did you insure only your quads? Also, what exactly do we ask for when we call to get insurance?

It's a personal articles policy. You can put (almost) anything on there. I am going to add all my camera gear.

And I did not have any other policies with them.

I don't have insurance. Is not about the drone, is about the damage the drone could create. At this time is accepted that a drone could not bring down a plane but if it crashes over humans, then damages could mount to hundreds of thousands. If a car driver looses control, accident could mean millions. Drone insurance can not be assessed.

If you think of your investment, I say forget about it. Droning poses such risks that at this time lawmakers are waiting for unavoidable to happen in order to enforce insurance. I say let's enjoy it responsibly until insurance becomes law, after that will see.
