Hi all I'm a relativly new drone flyer thats been lurking on here for a couple of wks now.
I had been enjoying flawless operation and flights of my P4 untill today. After my last flight I installed the HDMI output module sourced from DJI. I also purchased a pair of FatShark Dominator V3 goggles to go along with the project. Upon booting up the controller w/DJI Go4 connected it prompted me to upgrade from v1.6.0 to v1.8.0 which I did without any problems. Rebooted again and all seemed fine, all systems are GO FOR TAKEOFF.

Bench test checkouts seemed fine and the video in the goggles was great. However on my first flight with the new parts I quickly noticed I was losing video sync often (200') from me and basicaly no longer had the range I used to have prior to all of this. During the flight I pulled the HDMI cable from the RC and all my problems were solved. It seems there's an RF coupling issue with the HDMI cable plugged in? possibly distorting the RF emission from the RC?

I found a few other post that seem to point the finger at the FW upgrade, but I'm not sure thats the case. What FW version does everyone else use with the HDMI module/goggles?

I was able to land the craft without any issues but am now stumped. Any input would be apprectaited.

My Setup:
Phantom 4
Ipad mini 4
FatShark Dom v3.
Latest version FW everything

The live feed is 720p. The hdmi module only translates the live feed to a hdmi monitor, it does not improve live feed quality. The downlink quality stays the same. If you experience sync issues after installing hdmi module ( while before was fine), one quick fix is replace original module.

My problem is reduced flight range with video drops. I can barely fly 200' away from me.

Downgraded my FW from 1.8.0 -> 1.6.0 and my problem was completely solved. Go figure......

Aloha Kmims,

     Since you have now synced the firmware for your HDMI module, you should be able to update your firmware now and get back to being up-to-date.  Being up-to-date gives you all the benefits, including HDMI benefits.

THE 1.8 RC FIRMWARE VERSION DO NOT WORKS WITH HDMI MODULEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE, ONLY 1.666666666666666666666666666666666
