looking to attach payload release mechanism and drop 6 to 8lb shark bait into the gulf. any gudiance would be greatly appreciated.

Lots of people seem to due various drones to carry baits, and I modified another drone to do it, and did several test runs, but never got around to actually trying it over the water.

But, you basically attach a wire to the drone that has a slight hook shape. You put a loop in your line, and put it on this hook. On my drone, the hook was facing the tail, so when the drone was flown forward, the hook was raised, and therefore keeping the line on the hook. To release the line, you either throw the bail on the rod to stop paying out line and move the drone forwards, which will pull it off the hook, or you do a little maneuver where you give it sudden forward thrust follow thrust followed by an immediate reverse thrust.

Like previously mentioned, you should put this in the "ProSystem" section where other users have DIY units.
