I tested the Mavic for lost control signal by shutting off the controler it returned home but huver about 5 feet off a grass area where a took off I waited about 30 secons for it to land so i decided to turn the controler back on and force land it should I had waited a little longer is this normal or do I have issues.  HUGO

Probably the sensor below detected that the place was not suitable for landing. In that case he is hovering in the air waiting for another command.

It's not 100% clear, but Page 13 of the the manual v1.6 seems to indicate that in a Failsafe RTH (signal lost) it will hover at 2m above the Home Point until the user confirms or cancels the landing. Presumably if no command is received it will eventually land due to critically low battery.
