I purchased my Mavic in the UK from Apple along with the Care Refresh from dji. Away on holiday in Thailand and both the controller and Mavic ended up in the sea... are they both covered under the refresh with me being abroad? I'm back in the UK next week so can send it off then.

Sorry to hear about that.
If you have recovered your drone, then it can be replaced under DJI Care Refresh.
Aircraft, gimbal, camera, battery and propellers can be replaced expect the controller.
Please refer to the screenshot.
