The last upgrade that I installed was 3.08.
I tried to upgrade to 3.12, today, and it shows that I am at 3.10, with no updates available.
I refreshed, clicked the no updates, refreshed, uninstalled, and reinstalled assistant 3.8 (PC)
I am unable to upgrade, or downgrade.

II am unable to attach a screenshot, don't know why.

Make sure you have version 3.8 of the Phantom assistant. Version 3.6 will only download firmware V3.12

I think, Phantom assistant. Version 3.6 will only download firmware V3.08 (another words - it allows downgrade)

i thought 3.6 asst allows you to flash 3.08 firmware and 3.8 asst will flash to 3.12 firmware (dam DJI for having the same bloody numbers for firmware and assistant software)

I am not too sure about doing the hard reset. The one video says that there is a possibility of hosing the controller board.
I there any other way, other than shorting the pins on the controller

I followed the video, for the hard reset.
The software shows firmware 0, and no updates available.
I tried using software 3.6 and 3.8. Neither work.
When I power the phantom, without the reset cable, it shows firmware 3.1
No idea what to try next

No clue what you mean by power the Phantom without the reset cable it shows firmware 3.1..where and on what device ?..leave your phone off and out of it for now if that is the inference....

Read all below........... then go!
After you have done the hard reset..turn off your Phantom...
Make sure you have dumped and reloaded your Phantom Assistant software (v3.8 which includes the 3.12 firmware) as well, if not, please re do it! NOW!
Now, plug into the Phantom then power the Phantom up, then launch the Phantom Assistant then do your install/updates....it works

Having similar issue with the firmware.  I followed your list, even switching to a different computer.  Now the assistant will not log into my account.  Keep getting a servicer busy error.  Very odd...  Similar behavior between Mac and Windows OS.

I followed the video, on youtube, for a hard reset.
With the jumper cable installed, it shows firmware 0, but does not show any updates available.
I clicked the check for updates, many times.
I uninstalled and installed the assistant several times.
Went back to 3.6, still no updates.
3.8 - no updates available.
After removing the jumper cable, and restarting the phantom, it shows 3.1,
It does not appear that the hard reset has wiped the firmware.
I have tried this using Windows 8.1 and a MacBook
I am at a total loss.

If your phantom operates correctly, why would you try to update the software?

What version of the Phantom do you have?

Major New Features:

a)    No-Fly Zones have been updated to include a 25km radius centered in Washington, DC.

b)    The compass calibration program has been optimized to improve reliability.

c)    When automatic landing is initiated, users can now continue to control the aircraft's position and altitude. During this process, the maximum speed of ascent is 1 m/s.

d)    After an automatic landing has been completed and the motors have stopped spinning, users can immediately restart the motors and begin a new flight.


Updates

a)    Flight controller firmware has been updated to v3.12.

Those changes are not necessary and to me, they are stupid changes coupled with all the hassle to make it fly again after update

Then don't do the upgrade, some people rather like the changes.  it's all your choice.  I did the upgrade and can now get some sats inside my house where before I always got 0.  I have no problem with these upgrades,  it flies perfectly.

Well there is inconsistency here, my Phantom firmware primary update months ago were not prompted, only the sub element firmware is prompted

Many have comment on the automatic Push of this software.

One of mine I did upgrade and one of them I did not upgrade, but I can connect either one to the computer and it says there is an upgrade to the one I did not do and do you want to upgrade now,  I click cancel and it won't do the upgrade.

If you are running p2 Assistant v3.8 - how can you see if you have installed the MC firmware v3.12?

IGNORE - the upgrade is now displaying

not true! false info!

You have to CHOSE update.

It is not automatic and CAN be reflashed to 3.08 if needed.
