I am wondering what is a safe level to set the low battery percentage warning in the DJI GO app for my Mavic Pro. Default is 30% I know. Can I set it to 20% and still be safe?

I think 30% is okay. Trigger RTH without delay when the battery at 30%. Sometimes 30% still not enough to go all the way home depending on various factors like the distance, wind, etc. To be extra safe, I will be careful even when the battery at 50%. Cheers.

20% should be Ok if you don't fly too far away or fly in windy downwind conditions.  Use a Geofence distance of 500m and you will be Ok.

There's no specific threshold above which the setting is "safe" or below which it's "unsafe". Think of that warning as an alarm clock: how early (high) you set it depends on how much time you need to give yourself to get where you're going, which in this case is determined by how far away you fly and any headwinds you might encounter while flying back. My advice is not to rely on it at all but to fly conservatively until you have a good feel for how much battery you need to return in a given set of circumstances, at which time you'll be in a better position to judge how high you should set it if you still need / want the reminder it can provide.

Live a little and fly out of LOS sometimes at a wide open area, It's a rush!

I agree.  I always fly at or below the vertical height of 122 metres but never line of sight.  I have a Trackimo GPS system attached to the Mavic in case the battery loses its energy and is lost.  But I love to fly it several kilometres out.  My battery warning is 30% which I always return home unless I am several hundred metres from the home point.

I got mine set on 20% and critical to 10%......when i get to 30% which I always keep my eye on the battery I fly close by.  I got them set low due to the irritating beeping sound.

I often switch to Sports mode to come home when I'm a long way out and just follow the yellow line on the map back to where I am.  In theory at around 60kph that's a kilometre a minute (excluding external factors)
