Hi,

This was the 1st time that this happend to me!!!!

I was testing spark range, and when it lost signal e spark didn´t return home!


"Return-to-Home Operation Timeout"
What is this????


Fortunaly i got some signal and made it home, but with the message "AC disconected" on the APP...

Any ideas?

I don't recall the exact message that I receive, but I do know that if signal is lost between RC and craft for 3 seconds, the craft will perform an auto-RTH.  My experience sounds different from yours in that you are reporting that you lost signal and that the craft didn't return home.  Can you post the logs?  I'd love to see these flight records.

You need to be able to read dat file and need a dat decoder. I can't tell you why you had compass error but I can tell you what occurs when you do have compass error.

Why would a compass error disable GPS?
Orientation (compass data) and position (GPS data) are different but related.
When the Spark is moving and getting position information from the GPS that tells the Spark that it is travelling in a different direction from what it's getting from compass data, The Spark programming can't work with the data conflict.
The solution is to drop data from one source and since the Phantom can't fly without a compass but can without GPS, it's the GPS data that gets dropped.

There have been some compass problems with Sparks lately or your issue may have been related to something you did.
I'd be curious about when and where you calibrated it and where you launched from as these may be relevant factors.
You can also see the flight data to learn more and perhaps solve the mystery of your incident.

So a dumb question from me:  How are you guys evaluating this log?  The CSV file does open in excel, but I'm not very versed in reviewing raw data.  If that's how you guys are doing it, I'm humbled and in awe.

I tried to upload the csv file to http://www.phantomhelp.com/LogViewer/Upload/, but it doesn't produce any readable data.

It is not particularly helpful to raise the same issue in two threads in parallel. I would like to suggest to continue it only here in this thread.

In the other thread I had asked you whether you were flying in FCC or CE mode but you did not respond to that. If you were in CE mode on the flight in your screen recording above, you clearly went out of range with your Spark.

Also, I'm curious, did you try to manually force an RTH when it became disconnected?  If so, I'm guessing this is the source of the timeout message you got.  I believe if you try to manually force an RTH when it is disconnected, it will try for a period of time to send that signal to the AC and if it doesn't get it communicated to the AC in a certain amount of time, it will give you the timeout message you indicated.

Glad you eventually got connection back and were able to bring your Spark back successfully.

Very good point about the initiating the RTH after the disconnect and getting the failed attempt message.

I did have the same error once. I cant remeber when. I was flying at 40 meters distance. Pressed the rth at dji go app and. : operation timeout. Pressed same... I bring it back manually. Till today i had not understand...

Just to verify, were there any other operations before you got the message? Did you get the No Image RTH when the signal lost and you didn't click that RTH? If the status showed AC disconnected, please try to adjust the antennas or relink the drone and RC.
