I think the picture quality have changed on the Mavic Pro to the better.

In the beginning it was not good at all, My first MP had some problems with the camera (for those who was here in the start it was this thing with the lower right corner problem in videos) so I got it exchanged to a better one.

There is some noise, but in ACR or any other Noise reduction software it's quiet easy to fix that one.
I don't know if it's the MP Firmvare (still on .100) that have improved or Adobes software.

I still miss the NR thing function in DJI Go app, it would be so good to be able to separate Sharpness and Noise in the app, someday hopefully.
Even "close up's" work.

Any way I want to share some photos to prove my hypothesis.

Happy flying

You're welcome.
The law has changed.
Not for the good.
But I have decided that I want one anyway.

There will probably be EU legislation in about 1 year that has more to offer.
And the stupid thing is, the rules have not changed, so I can always hide behind those.

But now I'm waiting for a quotation on the repair on our roof that we have to make.
After a period of frost ( not like in Sweden, but still a lot of cold for Dutch standards) the old roof started leaking.
Won't be cheap.
So first see how much that will cost us.

100% - there was a FW update back in August that specifically improved image quality on the MP. Great shots BTW.

Not for the good.

I'm sorry to hear about the roof that is a real pity.
Hope you can find a good and not so expensive craftsman for that.

I think it has been a little bit colder in many parts of Europe this year.
We still have so much snow and I'm starting to wonder if it ever will be summer, but I live far up north though.

About the legislation there is one coming in May 2018 that relates to Privacy (GDPR) and that will affect us here at least, from what I read to the better.  But you never know with these guys.

The roof seems more important at this time, hope it works out well for you.

Yes I agree, the problem I can't get rid of is the "mushy" trees for some reason, it's to dark to save them somehow, You can play with the shadows but it never get really good.

I would have to look at and work with Raw image before I could tell much more.
Best guess right now is you have hit the limits of drone camera sensor's dynamic range.
You either get blown-out whites and slightly brighter trees or you get what you got.

If it is a case of hitting limits.  There is one thing you can try the next time.  As fast as possible take five pictures at  +/- 2 ftsops, +/- 1 fstops. and 0 fstops above/below optimal exposure.  Going to be tough to do with a drone hovering vs. a camera on a Tripod.

Then using Photoshop (or another photo editor) combine five pictures to create High Dynamic Range (HDR) single image.  I have never tried it with a drone.  I have done it with a low-end camera on a tripod.

HI HedgeTrimmer.

You are right about the dynamic range and it is what it is. It would be nice to have it a little bit improved but I guess that is due to sensor limitations.

I really like the suggestion about AEB here, will try that next time, thank you.

Agree, therefore the common sharpness +1 is change to +0 for 4k/uhd video recording

I guess that is down to the personal preference of the pilot in how sharp they want their image to be but yes, you don't 'need' to have +1 to prevent overly soft images anymore.

Curious what noise reduction software do you use?  I have only heard of Neat Video and plan on getting it ($99) in a few days.  Takes a very long time to encode using it but well worth it for the best results.

Yes I know, but I have had earlier problems with DJI assistant which makes me really don't trust it for upgrading and since the app don't contain the .100 version I will wait a little bit, it's only PANO that  I would like to try not that important.

Thanks for the update anyway

Im currently testing D-log (coming from D-cinelike) and I have kept +1 setting for sharpness but will try with 0 also at some point.

From what I understand which may be wrong using 0 sharpness the MP uses it's own noise reduction where it does not at +1 or any other setting.  Is this correct?  Is why using 0 for sharpness will reduce some noise but at the same time images are not as sharp as they would be at +1.  Do you use neat video?  Or what do you recommend?

Flybee   Care to share your camera settings?

Absolutely no secret at all AussieFlyer

Manual, ISO 100, D-Log +1 -1 -1 (Sharpness, Saturation and contrast) Can be the other way around for Sat and contrast but still the same values so.... I came from D-Cinelike with +1 0 0 which was OK also, just switched to D-Log to get a flatter file to try some stuff in Adobe Premiere.

This photos are taken with A polar Pro ND 32 filter which gives me a shutter speed around 160-400 in this light which for photo purposes are OK, (Less shaky due to higher shutter speed).

Not good for footage since I strive for 60 FPS since I shot movies in 30 FPS. But I don't have any higher number at the moment so I have to use  what I got.

Hope I got all.

happy flying.

I think the Mavic Pro shooting in Cinema 4K 4096x2160p is a little bit better in width of resolution than the Mavic Air shooting in UHD 4K 3840x2160p. The MP can do slow motion at 96fps and it can shoot UHD 4K 3840x2160p at 30fps 60mbs so the Cinema 4K aspect is a big difference nobody is drawing any notice, which is a big aspect.
