Strange 'issue' with Mavic Air

Whilst my MPP is away in the Netherlands being assessed for poor/blurry image on the right, I decided to purchase a Mavic Air. Delivered today, very nice but every time I power the quad down the left rear motor turns. Has any experience of this? I have updated to the latest firmware using DJI Assitant 2.


I've owned DJI products since 2013 and this is my first encounter of this issue.

At first I thought you were referring to the prop twitch upon powering on. But that prop rotation at the end of the video seems worrisome. I've never seen a prop rotate like that upon powering down. You should return it, this could become a safety issue.

Thank you all. My first and best option may be with the retailer as they have been very good in the past. Even though there clearly is an issue I'm not keen in having 2 drones in the DJI repair centre.

Thank you all, I'm confident this is either a unique issue or very rare. Just awaiting communication from the retailer but this will be a return. Even though it flies fine there clearly is an issue with this brand new quad.

I can confirm it´s not the default behavior. You should open a ticket and have that checked. If it really turns on while you hold it, it won´t be nice at all...

I've tried that one as well as factory rest. I've also tried the previous available firmware.

Identical symptoms. As I already had a Mavic Pro going through the DJI repair centre (which was very good), I decided to request a exchange through the retailer Jessops, where the Mavic Air was purchased from. Jessops replaced and today I have received a new Air.  Hope all goes well for you.
What I cannot confirm is whether this is a software or hardware issue. When I recieved the new drone I went straight into the firmware update before powering down. When the drone did it's own restart the motor did not turn.

When you received the new one, did you have the problem? Or did it come right? The one that sold me this tells me that it is a firmware problem, but if the new one you received came without that problem, then it is a hardware proble.

The Air was New, straight from box. As I updated firmware before turning off I do not know if the quad had an issue on delivery or if the firmware started the issue.
