I AM PRETTY EXCITED. I ORDERED MY PHANTOM 2 VISION PLUS TODAY. I EXPECT IT IN SEVERAL DAYS. I ORDERED A SECONDARY GPS UNIT FOR IT "HOPEFULLY" THAT IN THE EVENT OF A FLY AWAY I CAN FIND IT LOL.

SECONDLY I ORDERED THIS PIECE http://uavbits.weebly.com/original-p2v.html EVEN IF IT DOESN'T PROTECT THE CAMERA AND GIMBLE LIKE IT SAYS IT DOES, I BELIEVE IT WILL GIVE ME A GOOD PLACE TO MOUNT THE SECONDARY GPS.

THIRD I ORDERED THIS hHttp://www.ebay.com/itm/Ribbon-cable-protector-for-a-DJI-Phantom-2-Vision-Plus-CAMERA-/231325999661?
I ORDERED THAT BECAUSE HELL.......IT'S ONLY 22.00 AND I FIGURED I'D TRY IT. I HAVE SEEN ON SEVERAL WEBSITES THAT IT HAS WORKED FOR NUMEROUS PEOPLE.

WITH ALL THAT BEING SAID, ARE THERE ANY "PARTICULAR" VIDEOS, SITES, ETC YOU GUYS CAN REFER ME TO SO THAT I MAY STUDY UP ON ALL OF THIS? I AM FAIRLEY NEW TO QUADCOPTERS. I HAVE HEARD ALL OF THE "HORROR STORIES" OF FLY AWAYS, AND BROKEN GIMBELS AND CAMERAS THATS WHY I MADE THE SMALL PURCHASES I DID. LOL I, HOWEVER WOULD STILL LIKE TO SEE SOME OF THE VIDEOS THAT YOU GUYS USED TO HELP GET YOU STARTED.

ANY ADVICE (DO'S AND DON'TS) ABOUT SOFTWARE WOULD BE HELPFUL AS WELL

THANKS IN ADVANCE

GLENN

Well So far from video I have looked at on YouTube and the DJI site I am not sure if you will have an issue with flyaway. I have found that by looking at the videos and following the user guide I don't feel you will have that issue. Also in the DJI vision app, it has a find my Phantom, and it tell me where the last location was.

For me each time I start to fly and change the battery I do the compass calibration. I know I don't have to every time I change the battery, but it makes me feel good about doing it.

I am not sure what you are using for a secondary GPS, but it sounds nice. The main thing I have found from looking at all of the videos I am hopping I don't have that problem. But what I would do, and this is what I have done is the following:

Create a label with your phone number and the word "Reward"
change the name of the sim card to "Reward"
Create a word doc with the following information
Name
Phone Number
email address
Thank You for your honesty!

Now create a jpg file  from that word doc, and put it in the sim card.
You just may get lucky and someone will return it.

But back to your questions, the best place I have found for videos and help have been the following on youtube:

IrixGuy's Adventure Channel : https://www.youtube.com/user/IrixGuy

Demunseed : https://www.youtube.com/user/bowers95713

DJI :  https://www.youtube.com/user/djiinnovations

Good Luck..

Youtube is the place to learn really quickly. Make sure you read all the manuals, (a must). Get spare props and I suggest a couple of more batteries. More importantly be safe. Good luck and Happy Flying.

Glen, there are a few other threads in this forum with the same information. But just briefly:
Study up on: Vortex Ring State or Prop Wash, Hand Catch Landings (as opposed to landing on concrete and watching it tip over upon the CSC Stick Coomand and chipping a prop, and Waiting for 8+ satellites before take off. Also look in to NAZA-M Mode, especially Home Lock and Failsafe modes for your S1 and S2 switches. Be careful if you use prop guards, they contribute to VRS, in my opinion. And watch EVERY VIDEO you can regarding the Phantom and learn from other's mistakes.

Start in a large field away from everything (houses, structures, trees, etc.). And learn the Advanced Flight Techniques forward and backward, especially flying nose in.

Best of luck!
