This is a simple guide to view the Hidden files on the SD card.  This can help diagnaose problems with No Signal Issues and Failed SD card Issues.  After an update, if you have any problems this is the first place I would look.  I have not seen it explained easily so let me try:

***This procedure should be done immediatly after a failure of a firmware update.   Remove the SD card from the Aircraft and begin.
This is the Procedure For PC:
mac users go to post #2 for instructions in pdf form ( Below  in next posting )

First Go to Control Panel and Click on FOLDER OPTIONS  ( Might say personalization and Folder options)   Png 7
Go to the "View Tab"  and scroll down and Enable  "Show hidden Files, Folders and Drives Tap "Apply" and then " Ok"     Png 6

Now Go to" My Computer" and Open the Drive with your SD card on it.  Mine for example is "E" Drive    Png. 5       

This should bring up The Firmware file AND Firmware with the result. You can click FW_ Result   to see the outcome of the Download:  Success - Abort- Duplicate firmware etc.  
in this case we want the  "MISC " Folder.  Open this file  THIS IS WHAT WE WANT TO SEE.   Png4

Next click on the  "Log"  Png 3

Next click on  file  " FW_Log" In text       Png 2

THIS IS WHAT WE WANT - Look for information.  If next to Line 0800 and 1500 you see "Device not Detected"  More than likely you can stop trying to fix it. In all the cases I have seen the Aircraft must be sent to DJI for Repair. You can try to Rollback to 1.5 and then re-install 1.6 but it seldom works.   If next to line 0800 and 1500 it says "How to Connect" then the RC transmiiter is not seeing the (Device) Go App.  Check the Cable between RC  transmitter and device, and check or change the device.  Also inspect the USB cable ( from USB to Device) and USB port  on the Transmitter.  Png 1            

This  is for a PC ,Mac folks will have similar steps just differnt wording .

Useful post.  I would add to it that downloading incorrect firmware for the Standard is not likely,  as it downloads and installs only via Wifi through the app and is not available as a standalone download.

Saw this and your other post..  My issue is a little stranger..  I picked up a private purchase 4K camera ...  (I've since replace with a new one from B&H but still have the other)..  All looked good.. no breaks, clean swivels, etc.. Top of gimbal electric board looks clean..  My Advanced was at latest FW levels as was the controller.  When I first hooked up the camera, everything operated fine..  Could see video with app, gimbal worked, could record video and pics..  I got a message that the "camera" needed a fw upgrade.  Went through the standard procedure like I've done before ... loaded the FW bin onto a newly formatted micro SD (and ultimately tried a couple more)...  Restarted the Drone (now with the Professional level FW since it is a 4K camera)..  Started out fine, then went into a ddddddddddddddd sound and solid red..  Remember, the video was working..  After reboot of all devices, got Device cannot connect message.. Could still swivel, still take stills and video, but no video feed to the app.. Tried different devices (iPhone/iPad)..  no difference..  Very perplexed...   here's the log file..  Appreciate any ideas..

P.S.  Hooked up new 4K from B&H and everything went as smooth as silk..  My Advanced now Professional is working perfectly...

Saw this and your other post..  My issue is a little stranger..  I picked up a private purcha ...

If you notice lines 0800 and 1500  indicate " Device not detected"  this  means that the Video Transmission module is corrupted.  This is BAD.  I have never seen this repaired without going in for repair at DJI.

Sorry to tell you this, supposedly the only fix for this ( and I have never seen it work ) is to load the previous firmware One by one back to 1.3 and then again one by one back to your current FW.  It might be worth a go, but once again , you would be the first.

The silver lining is that DJI turnaround time has been improved to about a week to ten days.   Also be sure to "Reply" to one of my specific posts otherwise I do  not see them,  I just happened to check this thread as this happens quite a bit.  also feel free to send me e mail And I will try to help that way as well.



****Also ,did you happen to have the Transmitter on during aircraft  update?, sometimes this will cause the error or Was the SD card file loaded with a MACBOOK ?  the MAC does not wipe the whole SD card unless a certain procedure is followed.  Let me know if anything you can remeber so we can help future members.

Donnie..  Thanks for the reply..  Again, until I tried the fw upgrade, I did have video back to the iPhone attached to the RC..  It was AFTER the FW failed that I lost the video signal..  Again, the new 4K camera on my "Advanced" is working perfectly, so I don't want to do anything to mess that up.  :-)  but I am willing to try things..  Not 100% sure where video transmission unit is, but if it is in the Phantom body it's working fine with the new 4K camera.

So, yes, the remote was on, yes the firmware was added to the Micro SD on a Mac, but Micro SD was formatted in the camera assembly.

So, I have another SD card I can use to try to stair step the FW back and again forward, but don't want to mess up the "mother ship" in any way..  :-)  I can use a Windows based machine to add the .bin files after the format...

So, a couple of questions..  Will trying to hook back up the other 4K camera and going through the process of firmware backing down and then back up, harm the Phantom body?

Where do I get the older FWs (didn't check to see if 1.3 is still out there)...

With a 4K camera attached, I assume I should be using the Professional level firmware at all times..

Lastly, is it conceivable (and again since the new camera from B&H works fine) that the FW upgrade failure messed up the module in the top of the camera and gimbal assembly??

Ok, one thing for sure is to never have the transmitter on when updating the aircraft, this can really mess things up.  Update them one at a time , never with them both powered at same time.  

I dont think hooking the  4k camera up  and uploading the firmware will hurt anything.  I dont know for sure .  You are the first one I know that put a 4k camera on the advanced.

Yes always use the Pro firmware for the pro camera. Once again we are in Unchartered territory

Whichever camera was loaded with the SD card that gave the "device not detected " is going to have to be repaired for sure.  The reason I normaaly have seen this error is when the tranmsitter is on during an update to the aircraft.  
I hope this helps- I have never seen this done before.  On other drones like Yuneec  you coould easily change cameras from 4k to 1080.  I am not sure on the DJI stuff.

Always format on the aircraft if you have a MAC  and be sure to only load the BIN file as well.  
Just go as far back as DJI has files, usuallly you only need to go back to 1.4 or 1.3.  As stated I have  NEVER seen this work.  If you need any files let me know

Thanks.  I may give it one more go with the transmitter off.  Has to be something that happened during the FW update..  The camera WAS transmitting fine before the upgrade.  Hanging a 4K camera on the Advanced is totally supported by DJI.. In fact, the little compatibility card that comes in the DJI box shows it being totally compatible with the Advanced... and after it's done and you go to the DJI GO app, your Advanced comes up as a Professional.  Totally legal, totally supported and is covered with warranty...

I have never tried the following, but have been told, that it is the main board in the top of the gimbal that is actually what tells the camera (and the Phantom) what it thinks it is..  If you can get a clean top section (with the fan) from a down Professional, he said, the camera itself will think and act like a full 4K camera.

Will let you know if I make any progress, but thanks in advance for all the tips..  Will check out the other link..

Thank you for letting me know this, I learned something for sure.  If you have any success bringing the camera back with the  "device Not detected " please let me know , I know the procedure is to try and Rollback to the original FW that was loaded when you bought it.  So that could conceivably be 1.5 all the way to 1.3.  Then once you rollback, you try to get back to the latest FW.

Let me know if you have any  success.  Also when I said uncharted territory I guess I meant  FOR ME !

I don't think I'm going to take the Phantom itself back to 1.3 and then try to get it back to the latest..  (don't see a 1.5 on the DJI site)..  I may try again at the current level and see if it goes any further with the RC turned off.. Just don't want to take a chance on the Drone itself.  I think 1.7 said it could be rolled back to 1.6, but didn't mention going back any further than that (I don't think).  If something happened, I'm becoming more and more convinced it happened during that first attempt at upgrading the camera fw.  Like I mentioned, the video link was working before trying that so this could be a case of a failed fw upgrade bricking a component..  :-(
