Yes i have had a similar incident, where the Spark was hitting a rod and bounced back but recovered and flew on :-)

As said by others, you were lucky, but also I respect your camera control for the rest of the film, nicely done.

Better to be born lucky than rich, nice recovery, always keep one eye on craft and surroundings.

I like the boat...electric? Did you turn off obstacle avoidance in order to bring it back into the boat?

Yes, it's a Duffy electric boat.  I was flying from a pier nearby, not within the boat.

I put it in Activetrack circle, and almost immediately saw that the radius was too large, but I fatfingered stopping the Activetrack on the controls a couple of times.  Totally my fault, operator error.  Since it was circling and panning to the side when it hit the branch, there is no way the obstacle avoidance could have detected the collision, even though it was on.  Nothing wrong with the Spark.

I agree, it is incredible, I never had the expectation it could recover from something like that, and thought it was a goner!

I almost forgot, one thing that was interesting about crashing it was that when it hit, the Spark immediately went into Atti mode.  My ears didn't hear it when it happened (basically I didn't remember), but when I reviewed the cache footage on my phone, it announced that it went into Atti exactly at the time that it hit.  It then regained the GPS lock almost immediately after recovering itself from the fall, though.

Lucky and yes the Spark will recover well when hitting branches; happened to me twice now.

It does make me wonder what would have happened if I had the prop guards on.  Even though I was lucky and it recovered, and I normally only use the prop guards when flying indoors, I may selectively use them a bit more now.

Do not trust the machine.
