Can someone please help figure out how/why my drone crashed last night. I am still pretty new to this so bear with me. I was flying my Mavic last night and it started acting strange in that it was not hovering still, it was moving when I wasn't controlling anything with the remote. I could tell something was wrong so I tried to bring it to the side and out of the way to land it but when I hit auto land it just started hovering in about a 4' circle that kept growing until it ended up hitting a railing and breaking. I was not moving the drone at this time other than trying to steer it away from people when it got near them. please help me figure out what happened here, this was a dangerous situation for everyone that I was flying near. In hindsight I think I could have force laded the thing but it all happened so fast and I was really flustered trying to keep it away from the people that were nearby. below is a link to the DAT file from the incident:

thanks in advance for your help

Can you try again and see if you can locate the Flight Controller (FC) entry? It looks like the one you provided is probably a Vision entry but the FC is the one I need. Unfortunately the Assistant software and / or recent firmware is producing some flaky behavior lately and you may need to power the aircraft on and off a few times until the FC entry shows up in the list.

Sorry to hear about the crash, did the drone hurt by impact damage? Please sync the flight records and export the flight log, then contact the support to open a case, we'll submit a data analysis to find out the cause.  http://www.dji.com/support

That is called "The toilet bowl effect". It is from a bad compass calibration or bad compass. Do not calibrate your compass before every flight. It causes issues. Calibrate it once and leave it alone. Do not calibrate unless the app tells you too.

DroneFlying and I both looked at this flight. He may have some additional observations, and possibly a different analysis. FLY022.DAT has two flights, the second with the incident you described. The second flight was also contained in the .txt file you submitted. IMHO the incident was caused by flying location that had several sources causing geomagnetic distortion. In fact, there were so many I was unable to really get a clear picture.

With the first launch there was Yaw/magYaw separation which was then followed by the Mavic rotating while holding the Yaw value constant. This is a sure indication that the launch site was geomagnetically distorted.

The real story here is the magMod value. Prior to the first flight it was 1800 but got as low as 300 during the first flight. After the first flight the Mavic was then moved a very short distance and launched without incident. However the magMod value was 1000. Towards the end of the 2nd flight the magMod value got as high as 2200. This is particularly interesting because as the Mavic was circling there was one particular spot where the magMod hit a max each time it passed that spot. Look at attach 2 and 3.

From the Google Earth image it looks like you were flying in an area that would have a lot of ferrous material. My advice would be not to fly here. Good luck.

How these pictures and the data can be retrieved and plotted this way?

Look here for the software
http://www.datfile.net/CsvView/intro.html

Retrieving the .DAT file can be tricky. But, look here to see how to do that

thank you all for your thoughtful responses,  I was able to fly my drone this weekend after buying some new propellers and it seems to be running okay. It has a crack in the glass covering the lens that surprisingly doesn't interfere with the lens view. I will definitely be sure to be more aware of these issues in the future when I chose a place to fly.

thanks again
