Is there a way to have the telemetric data displayed on the recorded video.  It would be nice to have the altitude, distance, speed displayed as an overlay.  I've seen videos on YouTube that have this information displayed but no indication as to how the video was recorded and it doesn't look like this is a feature of the DJI Vision app.

I use a app called Vision+ Utility to get the data and then I use Dashware to overlay it on to the video.
There are many other ways to do this as well, this is just the way I do it.

Too bad that app is not compatible with iOS 8.  I would like to use it.

It is. I use it on my ipad Air updated to the latest 8.3 iOS. You have to search for "Vision Utility" and click on the apps for iphone and not iPad and you will see it.

I see the app and the first thing it says in the description is "NOTE: This app is not compatible with iOS 8" and that is using my iPhone to search.

The booster part is not compatible but the data log is.
