But i would like to edit them in 1080p. I shoot all videos in mp4 h264 codec. WHen i pull my SD and plug into the phone, the 1080p (and even the 720p) videos in the DCIM folder, cannot be edited using any android apps (powerdirector, kinemaster, etc) because it seems android wont support the dji h264 mp4 codec. They also cannot be played with video players other than VLC or Mx. So my question is 2 part:
1. Is there a way to pull videos directly from the SD in 1080p, and edit them on Android apps, or play in video player, without having to convert it to a mp4 codec compatible with android?
Aloha nmaffei,
Could the problem be that your display will not handle 1080p video? It would be hard to convert to a resolution that cannot be displayed. I am sure it can be done, but you are asking for some serious number crunching there. As Nebuchadnezzar suggested, using a PC would be much easier and faster. Both PowerDirector and KineMaster come in PC versions. The Windows 10 video player can handle 4K video real well. I use the Corel Video Studio 5 for editing. It may be up to 10.5 by now.
I did just locate a 1080p, h264 codec, mp4 video I recently converted from a 4K P3 Pro video (.mov) and played it flawlessly on my old Samsung Galaxy TabPro. Because of your issue, I was curious if it would play OK.
Tablets and phones appear to still be lightweights when it comes to high resolution videos. My nVideo Shield K1 is set for 4K video, and I have played 4K video on it, but never noticed that it was difficult. Of course the resolution was stepped down to my 8 inch screens resolution (which I forget what that is but it is above 1080p). But the nVideo Shield K1 is a screaming gaming machine in the tablet world. Too bad they do not make them any more.
Hope this helps!
