Updated Spark to the newest firmware (1.00.0900) and GO4 iOS app (4.2.4) and did not get a weak image transmission error message when using an OTG cable.
The image transmission icon is not greyed out and shows it is using 2.4G.  I have a North American machine.
After a quick indoor test I went out into the cold and made a short hop at -17°C and took a few pics.

I can't see the spark's battery info in the app using the Android app v 4.1.22

Interesting, I always thought DJI had a closer link to Apple than Android.  I've always hated Apple, die-hard windows guy but I did buy an iPad only to fly my Phantom 3.

DJI like most other companies in photography/videography support Apple products first and best.

If I read the reports right: you wont even with 4.1.2.4 on android yet

Thanks for your video clip.  Good to see your OTG was working using a 5.8G connection to the Spark.

Their own product is really based on android. CRYSTALSKY

Update, the OTG cable also works using 5.8G, see the screen shot below.

Why is it not recommended when people are saying it gives no signal dropouts. I personally haven't tried it yet because I dont have the cable but I was wondering why it inst recommended?

me too, i always wondered why, but never saw an answer to that. Im wondering if they actually know why or they are just repeating what someone had said some time ago without questioning it ...
since the last update i dont have any issues with OTG on iOS, Android still the same problems though..

I have been flying with an OTG cable since I got my Spark in June 2017.  10hrs of airtime, 105 flights.  I had a weak signal message on the previous version of GO4.  I rolled this version back to the previous one and continued flying.  The latest version of GO4 gives no error message.
I like using the OTG because it leaves the Wi-Fi free to connect to my network for downloading maps and updates for the Spark, Controller & Batteries.

Can you explain DJI ???
