Hi guys!

I had a bit of fun playing around with the DroneDeploy App recently.
If you have never tried 3D mapping with your drone I would highly recommend it! Very easy to use interface and creates a pretty decent quality map.
Tried it with the mavic, which also works very well.

I did a quick how to video which shows just how easy it was. Check it out!

Definitely worth having a crack, I have no affiliation with Drone Deploy I just found it really easy to use. I think Altizure did a better job of rendering the 3D model though. The paid version is quite expensive.

I’ve done a couple of DD missions and 3d models.  GREAT VIDEO!   Worth bookmarking!    Drone Deploy (DD) is so easy to use and you get very good deliverables.   THANKS for sharing!

Can you pre-plan a mapping mission on your PC then save it to your device like Litchi?

Yes you can, and I would definitely recommend doing it that way. It's much easier to edit the map and setup on the PC before you head out.

That's very cool!

Good program with support, but, the monthly fee is a deal breaker for a startup company. Pay as you go would be great.

Thanks for a short description of the workflow. But what is the purpose of mounting a ND filter for this kind of work?

Cuts down the glare from the roof, apparently glare/ reflection will mess up your 3D model.

Yes, Altizure also works great! If you go to the link in the Youtube description I have both 3D maps available for anyone to view and compare. I think Altizure did a better job rendering the buildings, DD had some "melted" looking edges. EDIT- I just remembered I posted the links to both in comment 3 have a look

Which paid version do you refer to? DD or AZ?

Agreed on a better quality on Altizure, my previous experience with DD is noticeably poorer rendering. Although they offer alot of data with their services

The drone deploy paid version is very expensive, I used the paid version (pay per job) and I think it worked out better.

80/80 overlap and a total of 435 images.

Looks nice, my only concern is you seemed not to keep the aircraft is sight visually ..  operating under 107 or not it is always smart the keep your aircraft in sight JMO

Thanks for your concern, it's a valid point! We fly under CASA regulation here in Australia (basically the same as 107) There was big openings around the undercover area I was positioned in so I could watch the drone when it launched. I went outside once it started flying it's course to keep it in VLOS
